Senior radiologic technologist job description

UK Healthcare is growing once again! We are expanding our Interventional Radiology services, and are hiring for new Radiology Technicians. This position will provide staffing coverage for procedures and assist the physician in expediting needed care. Techs will also assist as a scrub tech or circulatory during procedures, and be responsible for supply charge, documentation and charging procedures. Licensed Radiology Technologist in California, CRT, responsible for basic x-ray exams in the radiology department. Under indirect supervision, operates radiographic equipment using imaging modalities. Performs general diagnostic radiology procedures in compliance with department protocols, including fluoroscopy, orthopedics, tomography, c-arms, surgery and portables. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Applies principles of radiation protection and provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures. Recognizes patient-conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measure.
Salary Range $29.60 - $35.52

Qualifications:

+ Graduate of an accredited 2 or 4 year Radiology program and hold an active CRT or ARRT(CT) license. Must hold current state of California permit to practice in Radiology where applicable.

+ Two years of basic radiology experience.

+ Two years of CT experience.

+ High School graduate or equivalent

+ Current CPR Certified

+ Moderate to heavy lifting may be required.

Job Description:

+ Performs ordered examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and CT protocols of the individual site and reading physician.

+ Transports patients to and from the mobile coach/facility. Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the mobile coach and during the exam.

+ Maintains technical competency through ARRT CT registry examination, continued education, participation in hospital competency sponsored training programs.

+ Under guidance and approval of site ordering Physician, radiology supervisor and or Radiologist, administers contrast agents and/or radiopharmaceuticals according to site-specific protocols.

+ Completes and signs the Patient Screening form and reviews/explains the procedure to the patient.

+ Provides images to the facility in the desired site format.

+ Maintains confidentiality of all department and hospital information according to established procedures.

+ Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.

+ If applicable, assists with the set up and tear down of equipment in accordance with BGMH and/or manufacturers' guidelines.

+ Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the mobile coach/facility.

Responsibilities

The Senior Radiology Technologist is responsible for the fluoroscopic x-rays (C-Arm) procedures and other radiation procedures according to facility policy. The Radiation Technologist is responsible to assist with the provision of patient care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse. The Radiation Technologist performs duties according to scope of practice designated by the facility position description, role and responsibilities and under the direction of the designated clinical leader/Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Knowledge of radiation equipment, including the maintenance and care of equipment.

+ Applies principles of radiation protection.

+ Maintains documentation, reports, and files according to facility policy.

+ Calculates and regulates equipment using established technique, knowledge and skill.

+ Knows and practices the principles and procedures of sterile technique.

+ Sets up and operates radiation equipment in operating/procedure rooms.

+ Assists physician with imaging procedures.

+ Assists with housekeeping tasks as necessary to provide a safe environment for patients, teammates, physicians, guests.

Qualifications

+ High School graduate or equivalent; completion of an accredited radiology program required. 1-2 year experience in radiology.

+ Knowledge and understanding of radiology principles and practices.

+ Certification in radiation technology preferred.

+ Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment required or documentation of current BCLS certification
