When launch day arrives, we want you by our side

As a Sr. Launch Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for performing the flight safety analysis to ensure public safety & risk are maintained throughout ABL flight operations. This will include generating the mission flight safety rules, incorporating wind data to inform its impact on public safety, working with ABL's GNC team to modify trajectories as needed to maintain safety, and working with external regulatory bodies (ie: FAA, CAA, Federal Ranges) to validate ABL's methods comply with all requirements. You will be responsible for leading, supporting, and executing meetings to discuss requirements with several agencies. This includes supporting leadership, engineers, and operations as we expand launch operations globally. We are looking for Flight Safety Engineers, who enjoy solving challenges and have the ability manage multiple tasks to meet key milestones and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and share our passion for building and launching rockets and payloads into orbit. This is a role that directly contributes to ABL's vision and goal.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead analysis and support the development of documentation to meet requirements on a per-launch basis Lead, manage, and support meetings with Launch Sites, Range Safety, and Government agencies (FAA, CAA, Federal Ranges) Develop flight safety requirements and mission rules across global launch sites Work with ABL's internal teams to assess and modify trajectories as informed by analsyis
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Experience working with licensing requirements (CFR 413/414/440/450, AFSPC 91-710. RCC 319/324)2+ years experience with POST2, Astos, RRAT, or similar trajectory optimization software3+ years prior experience working with launch sites and executing launch operations Experience working with military and commercial ranges, FAA AST, ATC, USCGAbility to travel to support meetings, test campaigns, and launch campaigns
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Experience with Microsoft products, confluence, and scheduling tools for developing documentation Ability to build long and trusting relationships with all personnel and agencies Possess the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and leadership Day of launch or on-orbit systems support including launch flight safety limits and loads/GNC capabilities evaluation Demonstrated leadership of or within a small project team either in current role or during project based team in school Proficiency in Matlab or Python

Reporting to the Director of Engineering we ask that you become recognized as one of our technical experts in fire protection, natural gas delivery systems along with natural gas combustion system design and operation. Provide both operational and engineering focused recommendations based on knowledge, experience, and best industry practice.

You will work with plant teams, 3rd party engineering partners, contractors, other consultants, and equipment vendors to ensure program conformance, safe installations and maintenance strategies, and maximize performance of combustion equipment.

Work with Conagra's Corporate Risk Groups and insurance providers to mitigate risks associated with fires, through appropriate application of fire protection systems.
What you'll do:
Support and enhance existing NGSM program, through audit execution, engineering calculations, and identifying risk mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with NGSM regulations and standards.Work with Platform engineering and Technical Services leadership to develop annual and 3-year capital plans, through recommendation of cost-effective, combustion and fire protection system improvements.Provide technical support for installations of, modifications to and maintenance of fire protection systems, natural gas utility piping and combustion gas train control valve assemblies.Work with and support plant and contract resources to ensure that all NGSM audits are started and completed.Work with jurisdictional auditors to ensure that all combustion systems comply with applicable regulations and insurance standards.Facilitate combustion safety reporting during Quarterly Platform Safety & Risk conference calls.Develop Conagra Engineering Workflow Documents; (Budget Estimates, Front-End-Loading packages (FEL's), sections of FEL-s or Tech Briefs); that are complete and concise, and reflecting due diligence to ensure project success.Work with the Engineering Project Managers through the design and execution phases of projects to ensure conformance to company standards and processes.Assist plant and contractor teams with development and review of Natural Gas Purge plans.Keep current with latest combustion and fire protection requirements and applications that are commonly considered "state-of-the-art " for the food processing industry.Provide technical and economic feasibility to other groups within the Company that are focused on improvements to the current state and developing competitive advantages against Conagra's peer set.
