Job Description Job Title: Research Scientist Focus: Protein Biochemistry & Epitope Discovery Reports To: Director of Research Job purpose: The Research Scientist will support our growing program in Food allergen epitope discovery and cross-reactivity research. The role bridges protein chemistry, immunology, and mass spectrometry, with a focus on characterizing allergenic proteins and mapping epitope-level interactions that influence immune tolerance and cross-reactivity. The scientist will contribute directly to translational research aimed at improving diagnostic precision and guiding biosimilar protein immunotherapy strategies. Duties and Responsibilities: Protein Extraction & Purification Perform defatting, extraction, and purification of proteins from complex biological or food-based materials. Operate and maintain High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and related chromatography systems for protein fractionation and isolation. Assess protein purity and composition using SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and quantitative spectrophotometric analysis. Immunoassays & Binding Studies Design and execute ELISA-based binding and inhibition assays using patient or pooled allergic sera to evaluate IgE binding, cross-reactivity, and blocking capacity. Conduct avidity or competitive binding assays to characterize antibody affinity and specificity. Collaborate with the immunology team to translate biochemical findings into clinical and diagnostic relevance. Epitope Identification & Data Integration Prepare purified fractions for LC-MS/MS analysis and perform downstream bioinformatic peptide analysis to identify candidate epitopes. Integrate mass spectrometry, immunoassay, and structural modeling data to define clinically meaningful epitope patterns. Contribute to the design of new diagnostic assays and translational immunotherapy platforms based on identified protein domains. Collaboration & Communication Partner with cross-disciplinary teams including immunologists, data scientists, and clinicians. Maintain detailed experimental records, conduct data analysis, and contribute to publications, reports, grant applications, and conference presentations. Qualifications: PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Food Science, or a related field. Proven hands-on experience in protein purification and chromatographic separation (HPLC required). Strong background in binding and inhibition assay development (ELISA, competitive binding, or similar platforms). Experience interpreting and correlating mass spectrometry proteomic data Excellent technical writing, organizational, and collaborative skills. Preferred experience: Prior research involving food allergens, seed storage proteins, or other clinically relevant immunogenic proteins. Familiarity with IgE/IgG binding kinetics, cross-reactivity mechanisms, and allergen structural biology. Understanding of biosimilar protein immunotherapy principles and translational allergy research. About the Role We're seeking a Research Scientist passionate about 3D generation, flow matching, and diffusion models. You'll help advance the frontier of controllable 3D content creation-building models that generate consistent, editable, and physically grounded 3D assets and scenes. What You'll Do Conduct cutting-edge research on flow-matching, diffusion, and score-based methods for 3D generation and reconstruction. Design and implement scalable training pipelines for controllable 3D generation (meshes, Gaussians, NeRFs, voxels, implicit fields). Develop techniques for conditioning and control (text, sketch, pose, camera, physics) and multi-view consistency. Analyse model behaviour through ablations, visualisations, and quantitative metrics. Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinctive candidates for a faculty appointment of a tenure track position in the Biology Department. This position begins in January 2026. The successful applicant will have a particular teaching focus in cellular and molecular biology.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach a variety of courses for majors and non-majors depending on their expertise. We have a high need for someone to instruct our foundational Cell Biology and Genetics course and our more advanced Cellular & Molecular Biology course - so a strong background in cell and molecular biology is desired. There could be opportunities to instruct courses within the applicant's area of specialization. A typical teaching load is two courses with associated labs per semester. The appointee will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Standard faculty duties such as advising, committee assignments, and scholarly activity are expected. The department is housed primarily in the 127,000 square foot LEED Gold certified Euler Science Complex that opened in 2012 and has state-of-the-art biology instructional laboratory equipment (e.g. cell culture facility, small animal care facility, greenhouses, cryostat, upright fluorescence confocal microscope). Participate and own laboratory investigations, deviations, and CAPAs related to raw materials, test methods, and OOS events, as appropriate. Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and 1-2+ years' experience in the biotech/biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical setting Preferred Qualifications: Has previous experience and a solid understanding of the following analytical methods: HPLC, Gel/Western Blot, and ELISA employing GMP/GDP/GLP.
