General Description We are seeking a highly motivated materials scientist to lead the materials processing and additive manufacturing (AM) efforts at the JHU's Materials Characterization and Processing center (MCP), a multi-user shared instrumentation facility in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE), Whiting School of Engineering. The position will report to the Executive Director of the MCP and will involve outward facing activities with the broader JHU community, including the School of Medicine, as well as the international electron microscopy community. This is a non-tenure track faculty position of the DMSE funded at 100% FTE. Responsibilities Oversee and operate advanced materials processing instruments at the MCP (A laser powder directed energy deposition, and an ultrasonic metal atomizer). Train users on measurement techniques, proper operation of instruments, and sample preparation. Provide technical expertise, consultation, and collaboration for user research projects.
