The Scientist, Laboratory Technical Services is primarily responsible for supporting the analytical testing requirements of commercial/pre-commercial materials and products, including method development, validation and transfer, pre-commercial/commercial testing of materials and samples in a regulated laboratory environment. Has expert proficiency and takes lead role in conducting all types of physical & chemical analyses (including the most complex analyses) using all equipment. This position will have a significant role supporting pending ANDA submissions, product launches, complex product investigations, product development, and method lifecycle activities to achieve company goals and initiatives, and is considered an SME for these areas. Write and review SOPs, test methods, validation protocols and validation reports. The Senior Scientist also provides mentoring to Scientists and Chemists.

Knowledge
Proficiency in a body of information required for the job

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Generate ideas and concepts (collaborating with others, both within and outside the company), to develop successful research and development proposals for external funding that align with SoarTech's strategic mission of developing human-centered artificial intelligence solutions for the military's toughest problems.
* Act in the capacity of Principal Investigator. This requires executing R&D projects on time and within budget. This includes allocation of resources, ensuring delivery dates are met, and quality of work product meets customer needs and requirements.
* Collaborate with others in the translation of scientific research into engineering practice, the development of project strategy, and the implementation and execution of goals and objectives for research programs.
* Provide leadership and coordination of staff supporting R&D projects and to contribute substantively to existing projects as a technical contributor.
* Stay current in areas of relevant research through reviews of the literature and participation in industry-wide forums and discussions. Research Scientists disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications, presentations at scientific and community meetings, seminars and other venues.

As a research scientist in technology innovations and data science, you will lead in-depth research, providing insights into the dynamic landscape of energy technologies. Your expertise will be crucial in adapting to the evolving dynamics of the energy sector.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
· Conduct research on supply chain and applications of carbon-based materials, battery critical materials, batteries, and H2:
· Utilize data analysis to understand the supply and demand of key materials and energy carriers.
· Design and create compelling visualizations to effectively communicate trends in material supply chain and technologies.
· Conduct research on energy technology outlook:
· Conduct insightful research to provide long-term perspectives on energy technologies through life-cycle, techno-economic, and supply chain analysis.
· Conduct thorough data analysis to identify and evaluate trends in energy technologies, focusing on advancements in sustainable solutions.
· Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to forecast future trends and support strategic decision.
· Author high-quality research papers, technical reports, and proposals:
· Employ data visualization and statistical analysis to communicate research findings effectively.
· Manage and monitor the progress of multiple projects:
· Apply project management skills to oversee data-driven projects in response to changing demands in the energy and transportation sectors.
· Stay informed about scientific and technical developments:
· Actively participate in professional societies and technical committees, leveraging data science to stay at the forefront of industry developments.
· Provide consultations to senior management on research strategies and plans:
· Offer data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making in research initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· B.S. Degree in Science/Engineering/Physics/Mathematics Discipline as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned jobs. M.S./Ph.D. Degree highly desired.
· Seven years (7) experience in a substantive industrial, technological or laboratory area relevant to the jobs assignment.
· Proficiency in Python and SQL, with data science applications. Strong understanding of natural language processing (NLP) and text mining/information retrieval. Experience with large language models (LLMs), such as autonomous agents and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), is preferred.
· Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.
· Candidate should be comfortable in working independently or part of a project team, frequent project presentation and travel to meetings at conferences and universities. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
