Senior server administrator job description

The America R&D Lab is seeking a Server Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work on projects (as well as day-to-day operations), and a solid understanding of the technologies in place to support the-day-to day environment.
Job Responsibilities:

Maintaining the server, storage, and application environment for the enterprise. Build and deploy servers for the business units as they are required. Project Coordination: Align/Negotiate/Apply each stakeholder's requirements to HQ's standard process IT Infra Resource/Member Management Create, design, and maintain a Disaster Recovery testing process for all needed environments. Work with project teams to evaluate and recommend technology to support the enterprise. Monitor storage usage and forecast demand Constantly monitor lifecycle of current hardware and software within the server environment and prepare migration plan. Present information to IT management team. The Server Administrator position will be responsible for day-to-day support & management of server environment The position will also require occasional domestic/international travel and weekend work as part of a formal Change Process and occasional after hours work to respond to any issues. The position will require the ability to rack and install servers as needed.



Job Requirements:


Related Bachelor's Degree; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 3-5years of experience in Server and Database Environment Strong troubleshooting methodology is required Possess a broad knowledge of servers along with operating systems Good customer service skills, communication, work independently and have interpersonal skills. Leadership to manager junior IT members Knowledge in Windows/Linux Server Environment Knowledge in server architecture Knowledge in Symantec NetBackup Architecture Knowledge in DevOps tools (Nagios, Cacti, Jira System) Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving system and database problems Basic Network knowledge Great Communication and presentation skills and must be a team player.

Possess a broad knowledge of network equipment Microsoft Certification Cloud Vendor Certification (Amazon/MS) Understanding of MS Office and other standard software Understanding of Active Directory and Windows System Infrastructures Fluent in Korean/English is a plus Knowledge in Cloud (AWS, Azure) is a plus Knowledge in virtualization configuration (VMware, KVM, etc.) is a plus Knowledge in Disk and San Switch configuration (EMC, NetApp, etc.) is a plus

Provide day-to-day operational maintenance support with design, installation, and configuration of enterprise server-based solutions in support customer in multi-platform information systems varying in size and complexity. The contractor shall maintain system documentation of assigned systems. The contractor shall monitor and optimize the assigned systems to reach the highest possible uptime percentage and best possible user experience. The contractor shall lead troubleshooting efforts for assigned systems, follow up with Root Cause analysis for all faults in the system and support all troubleshooting efforts. The contractor shall provide recommendations to the Government for system improvements to prevent future outages. The contractor shall provide the Government with recommendations for lifecycle and modernization efforts related to the assigned systems. This task area may be subject to non-standard work hours and approximately two (2) after hours on call support per week
Qualifications
Required:
BA/BS in IT or related field discipline. (Relevant experience can be substituted for education) Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope and complexity with demonstrated experience in the following areas:
Design, development, and integration of hardware and software to support large scale Windows environments with virtualization. Windows Server engineering and administration on recent OSs (Server 2012+). Troubleshooting: multi-forest environments, ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services), communications flows with network security appliances in-path, between servers. Administering common core services (DHCP, RADIUS, DNS, Group Policy). Administering MS SQL servers. Administering MS IIS or other web frontends.
PowerShell. ADCS (Active Directory Certificate Services). Firewalls and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
8140/8570 IAT II compliant.
Highly Preferred:
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Core Infrastructure (certification was retired by Microsoft in 2020).

Major/Essential Functions

The Server Administrator IV's role includes designing, installing, administering, and maintaining multiple, advanced, and/or complex computing systems that are critical to the business operations of an area and/or unit.This includes conducting analysis of specification requirements, as well as, development and implementation of standards and procedures.The position is also expected to assist senior departmental management in determining the strategic IT direction for the area and/or unit and, as such, may interface with key IT leadership.Discretion and sound judgment is expected.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus five (5) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience. Applicants for this Security Sensitive Level II position will be subject to a criminal background check and must pass a drug and alcohol test after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Windows Server administration experience is necessary.
• Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Exchange Server, Skype for Business Server, Lync Server, SQL Server, PowerShell, Hyper-V, and/or VMware system administrator experience is desired.
