* Provides a wide range of brief clinical services to Veterans in Primary Care; individual and group treatments, health psychology interventions, consultation, and functional and risk assessments. To include intervention for subclinical symptoms such as dysphoria, anxiety, adjustment to disability, and changes in social roles due to physical health changes and challenges.
* Provides consultation and education to patients, family, and significant others, as well as PACT teams, and clinical staff within the Northeast Ohio Healthcare system, and serve as an integral member of the PACT team at the Parma VA.
* Remains available for timely and same day access for Veterans in Primary Care.
* Evaluation of cognitive deficits to address specific functional questions.
* Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.
* Supports medical staff in decision-making, patient care process issues, and improving staff-patient working relationships.
* Provides training, lectures or workshops to trainees, mental health staff, medical staff, and others in the community when requested to do so.

The Psychologist with the Mental Health Service with primary assignment of the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MH RRTP) . The Psychologist provides a full range of behavioral and mental health services utilizing appropriate instruments and structured interviews, generates psychological reports when needed, serves as authoritative source of information in the use and interpretation of tests to make differential diagnosis and provides mental health health and substance use disorders and co-occurring medical and psychosocial condition, in consultation with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Provides direct clinical care to include case management and assessment, to an assigned Veteran resident of the MH RRTP, consistent with approved clinical privileges and type of hospital appointment.
* Develop effective working relationships with patients, team members, and relevant hospital employees.
* Consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.
* Response to requests for patient treatment services.
* Supervise psychology trainees & unlicensed staff in the provision of mental health services, as assigned.
* Actively participate in psychology, service, and/or facility committees, as assigned.
* Ensure work is in compliance with standards and expectations of Joint Commission and other relevant accrediting bodies. Assist program leadership in accreditation preparation and continuous readiness activities as requested.
* Other duties may be assigned.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

The Division of Pediatric Psychology at Akron Children's Hospital (ACH) is recruiting for a pediatric/child clinical psychologist to join our assessment team. The psychologist will join a multidisciplinary team consisting of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Speech/Language Therapy in expanding Dyslexia and learning evaluation services. Consultation and evaluation of Dyslexia and comorbid conditions would be the primary role of this provider, with opportunities to expand focus as interested. For psychologists interested in a full-time opportunity, this position could be combined with other available areas of recruitment (e.g. Autism Clinic, Anxiety/OCD Disorder Clinic, Tic/Tourette's Clinic, etc.).
Opportunities for engagement in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research are robust. Research support is available through protected time, close collaboration with the Research Institute to provide research coordination and statistical support, and additional funding for travel to present research at national and international conferences. Research mentorship and peer collaboration opportunities are also readily available resources.
Training and supervision opportunities are also available. Akron Children's Hospital has a robust externship program in close collaboration with several area universities, a newly developed Pediatric Psychology Internship Program, and an established Pediatric Psychology Fellowship Program. Psychologists also work closely with pediatric residents and fellows training in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Child Psychiatry, and several medical subspecialties to provide interprofessional education. Opportunities to teach medical students through collaboration with Northeast Ohio Medical University is also available. Educational and mentorship support is available for new supervisors and those looking to enhance their educator skills.
Requirements include a doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical, counseling, or educational psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program, completion of an APA-accredited internship (child or pediatric emphasis preferred), license eligibility in the State of Ohio, and a strong interest in the practice of evidence-based pediatric psychology.
This position is a 501(c)(3) site which qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the Federal government.
