Senior system designer job description

Crytek is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior System Designer to work on Crysis 4 (Working Title) in our Frankfurt, Germany based studio.

As a Senior System Designer, you will communicate between programmers and artists to design and implement complex, cutting edge Player and/or AI system for games.
Candidate must be proficient in using visual scripting to create high quality gameplay systems.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement complex Player and or AI systems using visual scripting.Design, create and maintain asset databases for the above systems, using CRYENGINE.Iterate on behaviors and system functionality based on feedback.Contribute creative design ideas to the project.Balance and adjust systems to create fun game play.Work with other departments to ensure all required resources are scheduled and delivered.Be a technical knowledge source for other members of the development team.Contribute tool and workflow improvement ideas.Work closely with QA to debug systems.
Requirements4+ years of professional work experience in the game industry, with at least 2 years in a Senior System Design capacity.Excellent technical skills.Strong scripting ability.Extensive experience using visual scripting languages such as Schematyc, Flowgraph, Blueprint etc.Excellent working knowledge with game engines, preferably CRYENGINE.Extensive knowledge of the principles of game design.Experience in creating player and AI systems.Strong documentation ability.Team player, self-driven and willing to learn.Solid English skills, good communication skills with strong affinity for transparence.

As a Senior Designer working on design systems, you'll be instrumental in elevating the quality of experience across the Duo product portfolio. You'll help architect and implement the Duo design system and ensure it's cohesive with the rest of the Cisco Secure product portfolio. You'll work alongside product designers, content designers, and design engineers to deliver a first-class design system for the enterprise

What you'll do...

Craft polished UI components and patterns to improve cohesiveness and ease of use across our ecosystem of products and platforms: desktop, mobile, and web

Lead with vision: spot gaps, and opportunities for immediate impact while helping build a vision of the future

Inclusive design: ensure that our products are usable and accessible for ALL people

Support product design and development: create component and pattern usage guidelines to be used by multi-functional product teams, and keep all the information tidy

Team up: work closely with Design Engineering and Design Program Management to create tools and processes that enable our designers and engineers

Coach and mentor team members in Product Design and Design Enablement in systems thinking, tools of the trade, and any other areas of expertise that make sense!

Continuously improvement: explore how to improve the tools and processes that we use to produce and distribute our design system across teams

Experience you bring...

To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate strong experience in:

Working with SaaS product development teams to enable designer & developer handoffs and design system adoption

Designing across multiple platforms: web, mobile, desktop

Crafting and refining UI components, expertise in typography, layout, grid systems, iconography a must. Motion design experience is a bonus.

Documenting design guidelines and specifications with clarity and brevity, providing just enough information

Constructing, publishing, maintaining component libraries, preferably using Figma

Interpreting and incorporating accessibility standards

Using prioritization methods, frameworks

Moving between big picture planning and detailed, precise execution work

Communicating for action, managing input, and feedback

Sr Systems Design Engineering

(system integration, regression and release management)

THE ROLE:

Our team plays a major role in architecting and shaping every graphics board offered by AMD.

As part of the GPU, Datacenter & Accelerated Processing Organization, you will be developing and leveraging execution content to ensure enablement of system features, as well as for discovering software, hardware, or platform issues.

You will work across diverse groups spanning architecture, firmware, driver, debug, automation infrastructure and specialized IP teams to help root cause and resolve issues encountered along the way.

THE PERSON:

Experience or knowledge of software, hardware or firmware system design, integration or validation

Linux user and Python programmer

Interest in and/or experience with (HPC) High-Performance Computing systems and solutions

Enjoys new challenges and quickly adapts to change in a fast-moving environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, develop, and execution of content used for GPU/CPU system and solution level features and performance issues discovery.

Develop a deep understanding of upcoming AMD GPUs, CPUs, SOCs, IPs, and programming libraries to enable solution-level content execution.

Resolve challenging hardware and software issues discovered by working with design teams, key architects, software, and hardware validation teams

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive strategic continuous improvement

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Experience, knowledge and interest in GPU and/or CPU based SOCs.

Knowledge in hardware programming, bring up and execution methodology

Software and hardware triage skills

Working experience with CI/CD or similar execution frameworks

Hands-on software development, programming, debugging and test automation experience

Strong Python scripting experience and OO design

Knowledge in other languages is an asset

Demonstrated understanding of PC Platform Architecture, with hands-on experience in assembling PCs from components, set-up, configuration etc

Familiar with source controls systems like Perforce, SVN and Git

Good communication skills and ability & desire to work as a great teammate
