This Sr. Power Systems Test Engineer completes variety of technical jobs for Customers and provides applied electrical engineering and technical expertise for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, and repair.
Responsibilities
Complete Sr. Power Systems Field Test Engineer duties including but not limited to:
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, commission, start-up and collect data for control circuits, instrumentation, and high voltage equipment (up to 765kV).
Test Power Circuit Breakers, moderate complex relays, and metering.
Program, test, calibrate electro-mechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor protection relays.
Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
Assess results and prepare written report of findings, proposals, and improvement solutions.
Perform/review electrical design improvements primarily to support upgrades of electric utility substation systems in conjunction with client specific standards and requirements.
Work alongside customer representatives on-site to review and identify their needs.
Utilize Engineering skills, methodology, and applicable standards to implement electrical systems that are safe, dependable, and cost-effective.
Mentor other Techs, Engineers as directed.
Provide technical support and quality control for assigned projects.
Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting power system schematic and wiring diagrams including single-line and three-line drawings.
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Solid theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem solving.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.

Work will require overtime and regional travel.

Required Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field or experience equivalency and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
Previous NETA Certification is preferred; recertification will be expected.
Previous professional experience in electrical power utility testing, commissioning projects is preferred.
Experience with SEL and other protection software is preferred.
Strong communication skills (written and oral) in technical topics.
Self-management of assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates.
Interpret specs to our customer requests to design technical solutions.
Ability to run projects unassisted.
Familiarity with of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA.
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

Travel: 75% travel.

**The Role**

Requirements:
Position Summary
This role is responsible for participating in the design, implementation, and maintenance enterprise systems and infrastructure, with a strong focus on data integration, cloud services, and advanced help desk support. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ETL tools, database management, cloud platforms (Azure and AWS), and enterprise storage systems, and server virtualization.
Essential Job Functions
ETL & Database Management
Support ETL tools and workflows for data integration and transformation.
Maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL databases to ensure performance and reliability.
Cloud Infrastructure
Manage and support storage and compute resources in Microsoft Azure, to include health monitoring, capacity and performance, security and compliance, backup and replication, cost tracking, and incidence response.
On a monthly basis, review capacity planning, disaster recovery, compliance, and cost optimization.
Server Virtualization and Storage Systems
Maintain and support Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems for enterprise use.
Ensure data integrity, backup, and disaster recovery protocols are in place.
Support & Operations
Provide Tier One, Two, and Three Help Desk Support for escalated technical issues.
Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule to ensure 24/7 system availability.
Assist in vulnerability assessments and patch management.
Track open tickets: follow-up with the requestor and others assigned to determine and communicate the progress of the ticket or request. Ability to meet SLA requirements.
SystemsEngineering
Assist with design and deploying enterprise IT systems and services.
Monitor system performance and implement improvements to optimize uptime and efficiency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Virtualization and Infrastructure, to include Nutanix and VMware.
ETL and Data Integration - hands-on skillset with ETL tools, data transformation, and solid understanding of APIs and data pipelines.
Enterprise IT systems - experience with ERP, CRM, and WMS systems, middleware and integration platforms, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, SQL).
Advanced Support and Troubleshooting - deep knowledge of Windows Server OS, Active Directory, DHCP, GPOs, DNS. Be able to quickly obtain root cause analysis for complex issues. Strong understanding of ITIL - Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
General understanding of project management fundamentals such as Agile or Waterfall.
Ability to effectively collaborate with members of the IT and business teams.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
3+ years of experience in systemsengineering or IT infrastructure roles.
Proficiency with ETL tools (e.g., Pentaho, Talend, SSIS).
Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS environments.
3+ years of experience with enterprise storage solutions.

Senior systems engineer job in Cottage Grove, WI
Under the direction of the R&D Engineering Manager, the SystemsEngineer will assist in bringing together disparate components in the design of complex fitness equipment. The SystemsEngineer will assist in defining system level architecture and will ensure alignment between various teams developing individual components. They will plan and conduct testing for sample phases and assist project engineering with component level testing.
The SystemsEngineer will have electrical and mechanical technical expertise with strong organizational skills. They will help align and motivate the project team. They will support the project through the entire lifecycle, from requirements definition to mass production support, ensuring products meet high standards for safety, performance, and user experience.
This is a non-supervisory position.
Responsibilities:
* Translate user needs and market requirements into detailed system-level specifications and architecture designs
* Coordinate with product management, industrial design, and fitness experts to ensure equipment meets market demands, user ergonomics, and performance standards
* Ensure process is followed, checklists and documentation are maintained, and project milestones and deadlines are met
* Lead the integration of mechanical components (structure, biomechanics), electrical systems (motors, power supplies, sensors, controls), and software interfaces into a unified product
* Use CAD software and other engineering tools to create detailed models, analyze designs, and support the creation of engineering drawings, schematics and design guideline documents
* Design and execute comprehensive testing protocols for prototypes to verify the system meets specifications and safety standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, CE), develop test plans
* Analyze test data to identify issues, perform root cause analysis of system failures, and implement design modifications
* Ensure all designs and manufacturing processes comply with relevant health, safety, and regulatory standards
* Implement quality control procedures and participate in design reviews to ensure product reliability and durability
* Act as the primer technical liaison and communicate between cross-functional teams, including Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance departments
* Support the transition from prototype to mass production, assisting manufacturing teams with troubleshooting and process optimization
* Train Asia-based engineering and factory manufacturing team on design requirements
* This position requires international travel, and evening meetings with international team as needed
Requirements
Education:
* A bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited institution in SystemsEngineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Experience:
* Minimum 6 years of design/systemengineering experience
* Expertise designing components for various manufacturing processes
* Experience in DFMA and PFMA
* Well-qualified candidates will possess engineering experience with fitness products and strong fitness market knowledge
Skills:
* Proficiency in SolidWorks and Altium software for design and documentation
* Strong understanding of electrical systems (e.g., MCU, ARM, SoC architecture, wiring, EMI/EMC, ESD), control systems (DC, BLDC, PMSM motor Drive system), and diagnostic tools (e.g., PLCs, multimeters, oscilloscopes)
* Knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication)
* Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations for fitness equipment is a significant plus
* Software skills to be able to design and execute testing to verify the system meets the goals
* Strong analytical skills (strength & fatigue analysis), including FEA knowledge and experience
