A senior systems software engineer works with a team of software engineers to see to the efficient running and implementation of a company's computer network systems. Some of your duties include running reviews and maintenance checks on existing systems and providing recommendations on new installations and changes to be made on existing systems.

You must be able to train staff as well as end-users on the use of their computer systems. You will be required to resolve complex applications and attend to all network issues. Other duties are maintaining java-based web applications and reducing company costs by developing Unix shell and pearl scripts to integrate and automate various applications and system management.

The most commonly required educational qualification is a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or other related fields.
