General Dynamics senior technical advisor job description

The Senior Technical Advisor will help establish the technology vision, strategy and plans for growth of a 70+ person group by helping merge and integrate the myriad of technical projects and programs across the group. They will focus on maintaining and improving all technological issues within the group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Execute CTO level functions to include, but not limited to, broadly overseeing all aspects of multi-disciplinary group, coordinating integration activities between technical teams, providing technical direction to teams where needed and representing and negotiating needs with the infrastructure group. Work with the leadership team to set clear priorities and goals for the group. Lead the strategy for partnerships and external relationships and represent the technological agenda in staff meetings. Ensure tight collaboration across departments to drive strategic initiatives, including understanding the alignment between technology strategy and various technology road maps.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related technical experience in at least one of the following fields: data science, software dev, data engineering, AI/ML, bulk data processing, or modeling.

Job Description

The Supply Chain Technical Advisor will work on a project supporting the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), specifically Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials. The project is focused on increasing and securing supplies of raw materials, including rare earths and metals for DoD and essential civilian applications. The team member will provide technical and analytical support to the Government customer working various programs to increase access to supplies.

We are looking for a dynamic thinker with rare earth industry experience, practical business and technical knowledge, and an understanding of the environment for standing up domestic processing capabilities along various nodes in the metals value chain. This person will use a combination of critical thinking, business acumen, technical knowledge, and data analysis skills to assess and help the U.S. Government solve challenging domestic and defense problems.

Essential Job Responsibilities

* Research and provide data, analyze existing data, and weigh in on discussions about the risks to a raw material supply chain, and the options for mitigating that risk.
* Assist with Government execution of the risk mitigation strategy.
* Interface with other Government agencies in the development and execution of a risk mitigation strategy.
* There will be the requirement to interface with industry to research information and gauge industry's reaction to risks and risk mitigation strategies.

Based on qualifications, the team member will have the option to be located at an HII office in Alexandria, VA or work 100% remotely. The primary customer is in Fort Belvoir, VA, and the bulk of the HII team is located in Alexandria, VA. If working remotely, the team member must be willing to travel for periodic team and customer interactions

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience or master's degree with 3-5 years of experience.
* Preference for experience processing metals and minerals, or in metals and raw materials sales.
* Significant preference for experience processing rare earths and interacting with the rare earth industry.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office
* Able to professionally interact with members of Government, industry, and academia.
* Strong communication skills-both speaking and writing.
* Ability to document research and conclusions in an effective manner.

Salary range $86k to $120k relative to education and experience.

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.

What you'll learn & achieve:

The Senior Business/Industry Technical Advisor position is responsible for delivering consultative solutions in support of UL's compliance and learning management system, ComplianceWire. This is a highly visible role working with potential and existing clients and providing deep expertise in strategic road-mapping, tactical planning, business process reengineering, system implementations, system administration, training program development, and industry best practices for driving culture.

In addition to leading client consulting engagements, this role will work closely with Sales, Client Services, Marketing, and/or Product Development to develop and document new consulting services products.

The Senior Advisor will be engaged across all phases of new service development and updating existing solutions based on changing market conditions, with particular emphasis on solution ideation, design, testing and implementation. This position will also involve the planning, design and execution of pilot programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

* Provide pre-sales analysis/support, elicit client requirements using client meetings, system/document analysis, requirements workshops, etc. and prepare customized Statements of Work (SOW) for required consulting engagements
* Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, synthesize from high level concepts and/or granular details to a general understanding of client business requirements, distinguishing user requests from the underlying true needs
* Provide system administration support and training, to both small and large groups
* Work in cross-functional teams or independently to deliver the consulting solutions consistently and successfully for clients
* Act as "subject matter expert" related to the ComplianceWire LMS functionality and advising clients in the optimal configuration and use of the product
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse groups, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
* Create clear (sometimes technical) written documents, deliver compelling presentations, and adjust content to audience
* Engage in strategic conversations regarding UL capabilities and benefits with perspective and/or existing customer constituents
* Develop trusting relationships with client personnel
* Manage multiple engagements simultaneously
* Meet or exceed client expectations.
