Digital Navigators support community members through one-to-one mentorship, classroom-based instruction, resource guide creation and referrals. Ageism, poverty and lack of digital skills are barriers to digital adoption for older adults. Our program assists those struggling to connect to loved ones and communities with a 4-pronged approach - critical access to technology devices, affordable internet, digital literacy education and ongoing one-on-one support. Gifts for Seniors is dedicated to getting tablets into the hands of isolated older adults who can't otherwise afford one. During the pandemic older adults suffering from isolation became further challenged to remain connected when they were completely cut off from the outside world. To alleviate the devastating health impacts, Tech for Seniors was launched. Volunteers pre-load donated tablets with video conferencing software, networking opportunities, mind-sharpening apps, and other entertainment options. Program support includes: Robust outreach and engagement to combat isolation, and spur human connection; A curated website with digital literacy education, videos, and coaching resources; Access to socialization opportunities, critical aging services, faith, and telehealth support; and Small group training cohorts and pop-up tech clinics specifically designed for older adults. Member Duties : Digital Navigators conduct program participant intakes, design individualized Digital Development Plans and provide digital literacy instruction. Digital Navigators support program participant certification through one-on-one mentorship and group tutoring using Northstar Digital Literacy. They also update or create digital resource guides and make referrals to program participants based on participant intake self-identified goals. Digital Navigators evaluate program effectiveness through post-participation follow-up surveys that track program participants' increased confidence in digital literacy skills and employment gains. Digital Navigators serve in-person. Essential functions: Coordinate the Tech for Seniors work plan; Coordinate the Tech for Seniors weekly team meetings; Coordinate the eldertech volunteer program; Lead the tablet set up process; Lead the 8-week training cohorts for older adults; Assist in program data collection and reporting; and Assist in program development.
