The Role:Use a range of hand and power tools to assemble and teardown battery modules.Operate assembly equipment including proprietary CAN-based development tools.Set up, instrument and install battery modules with various sensors and equipment in preparation for testing.Work on thermal systems, chillers, valves, plumbing to conduct thermal testing on modules.Monitor software for data, reliability and efficiency for all ongoing testing.Perform electrical testing.Retain confidentiality of testing, procedures and data at all times.Maintain cleanliness of workspace and inventory of related parts.Work with others in a cross functional environment and follow written and verbal instructions.
Qualifications:At least 3 years of experience as a degreed technician (AA or equivalent ASE certification) Excellent attention to detail while following instructions Expert at using hand tools Experience using electrical test equipment such as voltmeter and resistance tester Basic knowledge and proper handling of battery cells and modules Familiarity with the safety aspect of batteries and battery testing Basic knowledge of Excel and Word programs
Preferred:Understanding electrical schematics High voltage certification Working knowledge of CAN communication

We're seeking a Test Technician to work from 8am - 5 pm PDT with our dynamic team of engineers, designers, and technicians to fabricate large structures for experimental flight vehicles in Gardnerville, Nevada. The test technician role shall support engineers and scientists who use test data to improve the quality of components, systems, assemblies, and their associated design/manufacturing processes. They should be comfortable conveying findings in a written and verbal manner. They should be flexible to new situations, have high attention to detail, an unbiased approach to tests, and quick thinking in dynamic environments. Basic understanding of foundational mathematics and science required. Familiarity with mechanical design in SOLIDWORKS & data manipulation in Excel, Python, MATLAB, or other software is preferred but not required.

ResponsibilitiesSupporting engineering in all testing tasks as required Conducting component, assembly, and systems testing on rigid structures, soft structures, and electrical equipment Performing calibration tests under real-world conditions Examining structures, materials, samples, hardware, and instrumentation for flaws or defects Monitoring and manipulating instrumentation and processes used to conduct tests Identifying the root cause of mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs as required Assembling, calibrating, improving, and performing maintenance on machines and software used to perform tests Compiling data, providing detailed feedback about test progress & issues to engineers Creating & maintaining an inventory of test equipment, hardware and test samples Maintaining a clean and organized work area Working in a safe manner, per company, local, state, and federal policies and regulations Training other employees in the testing protocol as required Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications5+ years experience in operating mechanical test equipment: operating hydraulic & electromechanical UTM's; setting up extensometers, temperature gages, and other transducers; applying strain gages; collecting & compiling test dataA.S. in Engineering Technology or related field High attention to detail Comfort conveying findings in a written and verbal manner Flexibility to new situations Quick thinking in dynamic environments Familiarity with Microsoft Excel

You are responsible for

Launching and testing circuits in fixtures to specifications
Biasing FETs (Field Effect Transistor) and/or transistors
Testing and tuning standard catalog amplifiers from 10MHz to 18GHz
Participating in continuous improvement and team building activities. Maintains productive working relationships with all team members
Applying RF fundamentals including but not limited to RF Gain, Gain Flatness, Gain Matching Return Loss P1 dB Compression, phase/phase tracking
Proficiency in RF theory and principals
Testing for gain, gain flatness, noise figure, VSWR, P1dB, IP3 and phase
Calibration of test equipment
Tuning and troubleshooting
Proficiency in operating test equipment like DC power supplies, RF signal generators, scalar and network analyzers
Understanding DC theory (Ohm's Law)
Following ESD procedures

In this role
You will perform a variety of non-routine tasks to ensure production quality standards are met. Performs set-ups, calibration, testing, tuning and troubleshooting of micro-strip circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies, to ensure unit functions according to specifications.

Technicians perform very detailed technician functions associated with back-end manufacturing to produce mission critical products and devices. Attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination and excellent hand dexterity is essential to operate tools and equipment to perform functions such as testing, tuning, troubleshooting and repairing millimeter and microwave frequency components.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

High School Diploma required. AS degree preferred
Position requires a minimum of 7 years relevant experience
Ability to use computers (Microsoft Office Suite)
Ability to clearly communicate in written and spoken English
Preferred experience in tuning RF thin film circuits
