We are seeking a candidate with the following key experience and skills: Complete designs for mechanical integration of propulsion systems utilizing NX CAD modeling and analysis tools Working with suppliers as necessary to mechanically integrate components into the airframe Knowledge of and experience working with and designing to FAA Part 23 structural requirements and derived ASTM standards Managing physical interfaces between propulsion components and the airframe Complete trade studies on alternative designs to meet requirements and objective functions Performing modeling, analysis and simulation (eg static and dynamic stress analysis) to verify integrated propulsion components meet performance and safety requirements Preparing and presenting at gated design reviews to demonstrate the adequacy of the design Communicating information about propulsion integration design, requirements, and performance between the design team, management, customer, subcontractors, and vendors Required Education and Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering on air vehicles with bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or related STEM discipline). Required Skills: Experience in aerospace component design Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, composite lamination, etc) High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principles A strong work ethic and ability to independently meet and lead the areas described by the responsibilities and essential functions Excellent organization and communication skills Other duties as assigned Desired Qualifications: Experience with mechanical system design and integration for certification to part 23 or 25 standards Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), certification procedures (especially Part 23), and relevant industry standards. Experience in Siemens NX CAD Software and Teamcenter PLM Software Competency in engineering analysis, including structural, thermal, multi-body dynamics, and electrical US Person (Citizen or Green Card) Preferred Location: Headquarters in Manassas, VA.
