Sensata Interns have the unique opportunity to work on a technical project in one of our engineering divisions. Throughout the internship experience, you will receive direct feedback from peers and managers, engage with other interns in the program, and will have multiple learning opportunities through Lunch and Learn presentations and training courses. Our Intern Program is inclusive to all our US sites and is designed to give each intern a concentrated view of what it is like to be an engineer at Sensata.
Internship projects vary from year to year and are based on current business needs at the time of the internship. Specific details will be provided prior to your start date, but all projects are technical and require a sound understanding of engineering principles.
As a Mechanical Engineering intern, possible responsibilities could include:
* Build, test and debug prototype samples.
* Work in teams to solve complex technical problems and support high volume production lines.
* Create engineering prints and specifications.
* Apply statistical methods to data analysis.
* Interface with customers on key design issues.
* Work in teams to identify and implement the best possible solutions and support high volume production lines.
* Performing design verification on original and/or derivative ideas using diagnostic and experimental methods.
* Determines design approaches and parameters.
* Evaluate equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. A typical product lifecycle starts with the sales order and ends roughly 32 weeks later with the shipment of the product. The Mechanical Design Engineer is first in line to scope and conceptualize the product and will have several groups following his/her lead in rapid succession: electrical engineering, software engineering, mechanical build, electrical build, controls engineering, product quality, and field installation.
Our ideal candidate will be proficient in 3D solid design using SolidWorks, MS Office, GD&T, Product Data Management tools, general automation design, and have at least two-years of experience in a design or project engineering role. Knowledge of balancing, modal analysis, vibration analysis, rotor dynamics, robotics, machining processes-including welding, milling, drilling, and grinding are desired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluate proposals and specifications to determine engineering feasibility of various design concepts and proposed applications.
Produce engineered designs and drawings for various machine components, sub-assemblies, systems and processes for balance machines, dimensional gages, welding or machining applications, material handling & transfer systems and other measurement and test systems.
Prepare and release design documentation using SolidWorks.
Provide supporting engineering analysis, including structural and modal FEA, tolerance stackup, vibration analysis, and failure analysis.
Collaborate with sales and project management as well as other engineering and manufacturing disciplines regarding design requirements and specifications.
Support and/or coordinate machine assembly, test, installation, and repair activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
Coordination with suppliers to make material and finish selections and select critical components.
Evaluate field installations and recommend solutions for new business as well as warranty issues.

Job Mission
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Intern at ASML is to learn about ASML's products and create an innovative solution to a real problem that we are facing using the latest technology and manufacturing techniques. You will work on Droplet Generator technology within the EUV Light Source program, transforming concepts into tested hardware with guidance from experienced engineers and scientists. Quality is paramount, and you will clearly demonstrate your impact with data.
This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
You must be work authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
Generate design and testing concepts to achieve the desired goals.
Perform 3D mechanical design of components.
Conduct tolerance analysis at system and subsystem levels.
Perform analytical analysis for thermal and structural components and sub-modules.
Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and CAD designers for prototype and pilot detailed design.
Coordinate with machine shops or other suppliers to manufacture and procure custom hardware.
Interact closely with development engineers, scientists, suppliers, and QA to resolve product and quality issues.

Education and Experience
Currently enrolled in an accredited college, pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of two years of coursework completed.
Proficient in using 3D CAD software, with a preference for Nx.
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles.
Experienced in processing and visualizing large data sets.
Demonstrated ability to execute designs from concept through to hands-on testing and build.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer applies skills and knowledge needed to achieve a cost-effective, functional, and ergonomic design to the development of ATE Systems and test fixtures. This Engineer works in conjunction with Electrical Engineers in order to provide a fully custom solution that meets the customer's needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide detailed design information to management and projects.
Perform design activities for various interface panel projects.
Interface with other engineering disciplines as required.
Utilize 3D CAD Design Software (SolidWorks) to perform mechanical design of power systems with subcomponent Placemen, cabinet structural design for ATE Systems.
Jack-of-all-trades problem solver.
Research new design processes.
Assist in fixturing design.
Direct the fabrication, assembly of product, and work cell concepts being prototyped and implemented.
Prepare clear and concise documentation for CAD Drawings and Part List for systems or sub-Assemblies of a given project.
Development and creation of design sketches ready to be modeled.
Coordinate materials procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience (1-2 years' experience).
Intermediate in SolidWorks CAD software.
Provable skills of CAD command (part, assembly, drafting).
Good English language skills.
Multidisciplinary technical knowledge is a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES:
This is a non-supervisory position.

General office skills and dexterity are required. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
