Sentara Health is currently seeking an Armed Security Officer for Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, VA. This is a Full Time position with a rotating schedule.
Hours
Monday through Friday, the Security staff works three shifts: 7am - 3:30pm, 3pm - 11:30pm, and 11pm - 7:30am.
Over the weekends, there may be a 12-hour and a 4-hour shift.
New hires are asked to be flexible to start and to move to a regular schedule.
Schedules are set to match the two-week pay period, with most Officers working part of their 40 hours on alternate weekends.
Overview
The Armed Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments. All Sentara Armed Security Officers possess the ability to exercise discretion regarding the use of their weapons, only utilizing their weapon in times of extreme attack when ALL non-violent options have been exhausted.
The Armed Security Officer actively monitors Concealed Weapons Detection System(s) at division entrances. In the event a weapon is found, the armed officer will inform the visitor/patient that the weapon is not allowed in the hospital. Officers may secure the weapon for the duration of the persons' visit for safekeeping. Armed officers may patrol the campus and monitor activity in and around buildings and grounds and respond appropriately to routine and emergency situations. This individual performs camera surveillance, maintains department logs and records, uses computer skills for documentation of daily activities, conducts security investigations, evaluates situations, and takes appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Scheduler is responsible to coordinate and schedule patient testing and procedures, including interacting with physician offices, other health care providers and staff in departments that provide services to ensure patients are scheduled as soon as possible. * Verifies patient information from physician's offices, as well as equipment needs, special requests, and positioning. Communicates special equipment, instruments, and supply requests to appropriate staff. Verifies all patient names, procedures, surgeons, and times with Registration/Admitting.
* Ensures correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history is collected and entered into computer system.
* Provides physician office staff and/or patient with hospital approved instructions regarding test preparation. Answers questions pertaining to testing, scheduling, and testing preparation. Refers patient to specialty area staff instructions, which are outside of the ordinary.
* Maintains patient records from the previous day, ensuring all records are accounted for. Maintains surgical logbook as needed. Compiles daily census statistics and distributes reports.
* Obtain necessary insurance pre-authorization and pre-certifications. Responsible for prior authorization and registration functions.
* Ensures accurate patient identification by consistently verifying two patient identifiers in accordance with hospital policy and patient safety standards.

**Essential Functions:**
+ Serves as a role model to set the standards of behavior, professionalism, and outstanding customer services in all relationships with internal and external customers.

+ Reviews applicable practice data and identifies variances. Analyze financial and billing reports to assist with decision-making and reporting. Participates in planning and budgeting preparation and analysis.
+ Meets with Practice Administrator and medical group/market leadership leadership as appropriate to review trends and develop/adjust strategic priorities.
+ Coordinates support functions to ensure compliance with Joint Commission, where applicable, and other required regulatory agencies.
+ Handles personnel functions, in collaboration with HR as appropriate, which includes check ins, evaluations etc.

Responsibilities:
The Trauma Registrar, reporting directly to the Trauma Nurse Director/Manager, supports the Southside Medical Center's organizational requirements for verification as a Level III Trauma Center by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons for maintaining a trauma registry database.
* The Trauma Registrar identifies cases for inclusion into the registry data base from various sources including the Master Patient Index, the ED log, and the Trauma Log based upon the guidelines of National Trauma Data Base standard.
* Data abstracted will be from various sources including, but not limited, to the electronic medical record, prehospital databases, autopsies reports, and other data sources, either electronic or not that will substantiate the injured patient
* The Trauma Registrar will assign ICD-10 CM diagnosis codes for diagnosis, comorbidities and complications and ICD-PCS procedure codes for procedures according to the established and published Official Coding Guidelines.
* The Trauma Registrar will assign and verify AIS codes required for severity of illness and probability of survival as established through AAAM manual for AIS coding
* Daily chart review and data entry into the Trauma Registry on established patients who meet criteria will be performed.
* The Trauma Registrar reports all complications and quality issues to the Trauma PI Coordinator as soon as discovered.

Registered Dietitian (RD) - Pediatric Gastroenterology
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The outpatient Registered Dietitian (RD) performs each step of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), including patient assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention, monitoring and evaluation. The RD applies, participates in, or generates research to enhance clinical practice, and utilizes information technology to manage knowledge, problem solve and support decision making. The RD develops nutrition care plans and educates diverse patient populations through the application of knowledge and principles of disease management, prevention, and behavioral change. The outpatient RD provides nutrition education to the community through group classes and hospital-affiliated health fairs, wellness activities and promotions. The RD is a specialist in nutrition who is responsible for the nutritional care of patients identified as either having moderate to high risk for diabetes, or who are living with pre-diabetes or diabetes. Assessment Screens, prioritizes, and processes patient referrals. Coordinates the assessment of the patient's nutritional status using anthropometric, biomedical, and nutrition-focused physical findings. Determines the risk for diabetes or management of pre-diabetes or diabetes. Reviews patient's clinical information obtained through physician referral, laboratory reports and health records. Conducts consultations with patients to obtain relevant information and assess their nutritional learning needs. Planning Assists in development of program calendars, identifying priorities, target dates and implementation strategies. Develops and discusses appropriate individualized nutritional care plan with the patient based on best practices and guidelines. Manages, reviews, and makes recommendations regarding protocols for the nutrition education of patients. Implementation Works in close collaboration with the physician and the full interdisciplinary team to safely and effectively provide appropriate care to patients. Provides nutritional education to meet patients' learning needs. Recommends and adapts teaching to the patient's identified nutritional needs, revising treatment protocols as required. Facilitates group educational sessions using the principles of adult learning. Documents medical nutrition therapy treatments in patient's health record using standardized nutrition diagnosis PES (problem, etiology, signs/symptoms) statements Refers to other resources and arranges follow-up as necessary. Communication Communicates effectively with the physician and other health care team members to create a cohesive team and seamless services for the community. Communicates effectively with all patients, families, peers, other health care professionals and community partners. Participates in interdisciplinary meetings as required. Evaluation Evaluates patient comprehension and compliance to the nutritional plan by reviewing clinical and learning outcomes. Identifies key performance indicators for dietitian services, participates in the measurement of these indicators. Participates in workload measurement, evaluates results to identify trends in patient needs. Team Development Works effectively within an interdisciplinary team, in varied practice settings, to improve access to primary care for the BSMG patients. The “patient” may be an individual, a family, a target group or a community. Provides case study nutritional consultation, conducts in-services and workshops for team members, other health professionals and community partners. Promotes awareness of the Bon Secours Health System, Inc. services and programs Actively participates in staff, team and committee meetings as appropriate. Provides consultation as requested to community groups, partners and team members. Provides leadership and mentorship to dietitian students/interns as needed. Participates in the education of other health professional students as needed. Participates in the development, planning, and evaluation of treatment, education, counseling, and health promotion activities for BSMG. Employment Qualifications
Education/Experience: Baccalaureate of Science in Nutrition from a university offering an ACEND accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics granting a bachelor's degree. Successful completion of an ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship Program, providing at least 900 hours of supervised practical experience. Current Virginia Drivers' License. Experience in Community, Primary Care settings and/or experience working with diabetes patients Certified Diabetes Care and Educator Specialist- CDCES Skills/Abilities: Knowledge and proficiency in current, evidence-based methods and practices of primary care delivery, with an emphasis on health promotion and risk reduction. Superior leadership, organization, research, evaluation, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in the use of computers, particularly in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
