We are seeking candidates for the position of Substation Maintainer Trainee (0713) in the MOW/Power Department.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, provides Electrical Maintenance to all traction power equipment, traction power switchgear, switches, transfer switches, distribution panels, alarm system systems, battery chargers and emergency diesel motor alternators.
Compensation Data
Starting Pay Rate for position is $38.41/hr.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* Services all traction power equipment in all substations within the jurisdiction of the Substation Maintenance Foreman.
* Services various types of DC traction power switchgear in shops, depots, car houses, remote rooms, and switchgear in Walnut Locust switchgear room. Services AC and DC circuit breaker test fixtures.
* Services automatic transfer switches, auxiliary transfer distribution panels and medium voltage fused or non-fused disconnect switches.
* Services all substation alarm systems.
* Service electrical and manual cranes, as well as, raceways (NEC Article 100), such as conduits, boxes, fittings, wireways, cable trays, etc.
* Services DC battery chargers, and emergency diesel motor alternators.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* Must have a combination of 2 years work experience and / or technical training within an Electrical or Electronics craft.
* Must be able to work from circuit drawings.
* Must be High School graduate or equivalent.
* Must have valid PA driver's license or equivalent.
* Must satisfactorily complete written qualification test as required at SEPTA's Test Center. .

We are seeking to hire candidates for our Rail Vehicle Electrical/Electronic Maintainer -2nd Class (0842) in our City Transit and Regional Rail Divisions.
Compensation Data
* for SEPTA City Transit Division: $28.60/hr. (Increase to $30.24/hr. after 12 months)
* for SEPTA Regional Railroad Division: $31.23/hr. (Increase to $31.62/hr. after 12 months)

OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Inspects, tests, and fabricates electric and electronic controls, HVAC systems, wiring, current collection and associated accessories used primarily in the repair of rail vehicles.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES
* Inspects, tests, and fabricates electric and electronic controls, HVAC systems, wiring, current collection and associated accessories used primarily in the repair of rail vehicles.
* Inspects, tests with meters to determine extent of repair or replacement of parts required; performs layout work; makes wiring diagrams indicating new or relocated circuits; installs wiring hookups, rewires damaged or burnt-out circuits.
* Dissembles, inspects, repairs, renews, gauges, tests, cleans, paints, replaces, rewires, adjusts, reassembles, assembles as required: contactor parts, group switches, contactor box parts, sequence switch parts, rail vehicle controllers, breakers.
* Disconnects wiring and bolts and removes controllers from compartments; replaces or repairs and replaces parts such as overload relays, various types of contractors, resistor coils, various resistance units, contact tip and springs, interlocks and other related parts.
* Performs troubleshooting duties on vehicle wiring; performs wiring and conduit work; test electrical equipment; inspects and adjusts for final test.
* Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* High school graduate or equivalent required.
* Must have Training and / or Experience in the repair, rewiring, and replacement of electric and electronic controls. Experience on Rail Vehicle equipment preferred but not required.
* Must satisfactorily complete written qualification tests as follows: Advanced Electricity, Basic Math, Hand Tools, Schematics.
* Must possess valid driver's license.
* Will be required to possess and/or obtain hand tools as detailed in job description.
* Must satisfactorily complete performance test as required by labor agreement.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The Vehicle Equipment Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic vehicle systems. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates safely and efficiently, supporting the day-to-day needs of our organization.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* Identify defects in vehicles and related equipment, determining the scope of repairs, adjustments, or replacements needed.
* Disassemble, clean, replace, reassemble, rewire, and adjust electrical equipment, controls, accelerators, and other vehicle components.
* Disconnect wiring and bolts, remove controllers, and replace platform controllers and junction boxes. Relocate and rearrange auxiliary control and power wiring, and perform electrical repairs as needed.
* Troubleshoot issues down to the module and component level, replacing faulty modules and components to restore functionality.
* Install and replace wiring in complete electrical circuits or components, including control units, interlocks, contractors, and power resistors.
* Perform emergency repairs on-site, such as replacing trolley poles, ropes, harps, retrievers, shoes, tires, fuses, and light bulbs. Adjust doors and windshield wiper arms, disconnect wires from group circuits, and operate vehicles to designated locations.
* Clean, buff, grind, and file component parts; drill holes for cable and pipe cleats; make adjustments on control panels; remove, replace, and reconnect batteries; and replace accelerator and brake cables.
* Remove, repair, and replace climate control components as needed.
* Perform welding, heating, or gas cutting operations required for maintenance tasks.
* Conduct vehicle tests using diagnostic equipment such as ammeters, voltmeters, and accelerometers. Observe performance, determine acceleration and deceleration rates, and correct any issues.
* Direct and support employees in lower classifications as required.
* Clear and clean work areas, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
* Complete daily work reports and submit them to the Foreman.
* Move items by hand or with company vehicles as needed.
* Perform related tasks as assigned, including responding to calls during storms and emergencies. Work may involve stooped, bent, or cramped positions, as well as working from ladders or scaffolds.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* High school diploma or equivalent and two years technical school.
* Must have 2 years related experience, be proficient in working from mechanical, years related experience, be proficient in working from mechanical, electrical, electronic, logic and pneumatic drawings and schematics. Familiar with current and voltage waveforms and graphs. Familiar with interpretation of circuit configurations and integrated circuit logic flow diagrams.
* Must satisfactorily complete written qualification tests and performance tests as follows: Climate control, Advance Electricity, Electronics, Intermediate Mathematics, Chassis-body.
* Must possess valid driver's license.
* Must possess tools pertinent to occupation.
