Pay is great! Union actually fights for the members, pension vested after just 5 years of service. Long hours for some jobs but it all depends on what your skilled trade is and/or career you choose to pursue. Also SEPTA offers a type of apprenticeship on amount of knowledge you have in your particular field. The more you know, the quicker you are to receive top pay.
Most times you don’t get your preferred location, but after a year you can transfer to your desired location, if only the location your at is understaffed or you have to be retrenched. Operators schedules and regional rail employees work long hours and must travel to where their vehicle is departing from, but it’s worth it in the long haul when you get seniority and after putting some time in.
My favorite perk working for SEPTA is free transportation on all SEPTA vehicles, great pay, pension after 5 years of service and a 457 B. The medical benefits are also amazing, albeit you stay in coverage network.
Good benefits and decent pay
Being held in position but given more work without a raise, not being considered for promotions without degree but at the same time given more workload, no protection from abusive managers
healthcare benefits, work-life balance
Money but the more you make the mare taxes
A regular work week is about 50 hours and that's straight time we should get paid overtime after 40 hours
Health benefits ok that's about it
