DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Correctional Officers enforce the regulations governing the operation of the facility, serving as both a supervisor and counselor of inmates. During emergencies or other periods of heavy workload or limited staff, may be required to work long and irregular hours, unusual shifts, Sundays, holidays and unexpected overtime. Duties include, but are not limited to the following under close supervision. As training progresses the supervision becomes more intermittent. Enforces rules and regulations governing facility security, inmate accountability and inmate conduct to ensure judicial sanctions are carried out and inmates remain in custody. Provides custody and security of inmates including observing actions of inmates. Conduct pat and strip searches of offenders.
