Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.

Job Responsibilities
Receives eight weeks of formalized pre-service security training at the Illinois Corrections Training Academy including firearms training due to requirements mandating qualification.
Receives on-the-job training under immediate supervision of a qualified correctional employee.
Assigned each work week to another correctional employee to assist in running lines, yard, dining room, housing units, facility buildings, writs, observing individuals in custody, perimeter patrol, armory, counting, shakedowns, movement, etc.
Travels by using a state issued vehicle to complete assignments.
Receives one week orientation at facility.

A Brief Summary of This Position:

COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER

NATURE OF WORK
This position is responsible for municipal law enforcement work in a non-sworn class within the police department. The Community Service Officer shall perform enforcement procedures related to city codes dealing with animal control, parking and vehicle ordinance, health and safety ordinances and with assisting with the storage and disposal of police property and evidence.
Work will include picking up stray and injured animals and arranging for their care and conducting investigations into animal bites, animal abuse/neglect and inspections of commercial animal establishments, Work will also include notifying citizens of violations of city ordinances dealing with parking, junk, weeds, health and safety. About the Position
As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining order, providing supervision, and enforcing rules and regulations within our correctional facility. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safety and security of both staff and inmates, while also promoting an environment conducive to rehabilitation and personal growth.
Responsibilities
Supervising inmates to prevent disturbances, escapes, or any unauthorized actions
Maintaining order and discipline within the facility, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations
Conducting routine searches to prevent the introduction of contraband
Monitoring and inspecting facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning
Responding to emergencies, such as fights, fires, or medical situations, and taking appropriate action
Documenting incidents, inmate behavior, and other relevant information
Assisting in the transportation of inmates to and from court hearings, medical appointments, and other necessary destinations
Providing support and guidance to inmates, promoting rehabilitative efforts and behavior change
Collaborating with other team members to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of correctional operations
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent
Must be at least 19 years of age
An understanding of correctional practices, procedures, and safety guidelines
Good judgment, excellent decision-making skills, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with inmates, colleagues, and superiors
Strong physical and mental resilience to handle the demands of the job
An unwavering commitment to integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
