Objective
This position is under the direct supervision of the Captain and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers, and all visitors.
Essential Functions
Read and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly communicate in person or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the general public. Maintaining a professional, tactful and courteous demeanor under stressful situations security personnel routinely encounter. Be able to compose precise short paragraphs, written reports, and other reports in English as necessary.
Job Duties
Performs security patrols.
Enforces access control procedures.
Protects property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents.
Investigates and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards, and other security-related situations.
Assist customers, employees, and visitors in following the department's procedures.
May perform other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Candidate Qualifications:
Must be a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces OR a U.S. Citizen
Must have been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration
Must be 21 years of age
Must be a high school/GED graduate
Must have one of the following:
2 years of armed security experience or law enforcement OR
2 years of military service (active duty or reserve) with an honorable discharge
Previous experience as a supervisor is preferred

Provides assistance to researchers in obtaining and maintaining any required import or interstate transport permits for biological materials to be used at LBRI and transports infectious materials between campuses as needed, and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field and five or more years of prior biosafety experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. BSL-3 and ABSL-3 experience required. Experience as an RO or ARO and RBSP preferred.
Expert knowledge of the NIH Guidelines, the CDC/NIH Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories guidelines, OSHA regulations, CDC/APHIS Select Agents and Toxins regulations, DOT regulations, IATA Guidelines, and other relevant federal, state and local regulations, guidelines, and standards is required.
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy and discretion; excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills; and strong customer-service skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with solid judgment and discretion is critical, as well as the ability to perform duties independently.
Requires professional-level general computer skills and the ability to learn other department-specific computer systems as needed.
Successful completion of various background checks required. Must be able to pass National Select Agent Registration security risk assessment. May be required to maintain a final US Government security clearance.

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in laboratory and vivarium/animal housing environments. Will frequently stand, sit, walk, kneel, crawl, reach/work overhead, frequently lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds, perform repetitive and perform desk-based computer tasks. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. Ideal candidates will have previous experience as a security officer, security guard, and/or other safety and protection related fields, including customer service roles.
Marksman Security Corporation is accepting applications for a Security Officer in an active and engaging atmosphere. This job entails engaging with the public and responding to any and all calls for service in public right of way. You will be working with a team and supported by a leadership team that sets clear expectations and will help you to succeed and grow.
Applicants need to be able and willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays, if needed.
Must have a current valid New Mexico Level II Guard License. Be able and willing to conduct extended foot patrols of the district area up to and including six hours. Must have a clean driving record.
Responsibilities:
Conduct vehicle, foot patrols of areas in the public right of way to identify potential safety and security risks
Maintain a visible presence and engage in professional public interactions
Document all interactions in a clear and concise written report, ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of required documentation (reports/documents)
Communicate and pass on all pertinent information to fellow team members, other safety teams, and the client.
Monitor and/or detect any suspicious behavior to assist in the prevention of vandalism, theft and or other criminal behavior
Warn violators of infractions e.g., loitering, smoking and or in possession of prohibited items
Respond to calls of distress, alarms and/or emergencies such as fire, injuries or presence of unauthorized individuals by contacting local first responders
Identify and report any and all concerns (safety, security breaches, unusual circumstances) in a timely manner
Ensure all rules/regulations are being enforced and followed
Other duties to be determined by management
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age or older

Valid state driver's license

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
* Must be 21 years of age.
* Must be a United States citizen.
* Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
* No felony convictions. Criminal activity in which applicant has been convicted of, pled guilty to, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge, been involved in any prosecution diversion program (PPP) as adjudicated for a felony crime committed will be permanently disqualified. Felony arrests will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
* No misdemeanor convictions within the last three (3) years from the date of initial testing. Applicants who within 3 years preceding their written test date, have been convicted of, pled guilty to, or entered a plea of nolo contendre to any violation of federal law, state law, or local ordinance that would be classified as a misdemeanor crime, will be reviewed on an individual basis and may be cause for disqualification (does not include minor traffic violations). Misdemeanor arrests will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
* No DWI convictions within the last five (5) years from the date of initial testing, whether from an administrative sanction by a Motor Vehicle Department, criminal conviction, or military disciplinary action. Two (2) or more DWIs in the most recent ten (10) year period disqualifies an individual as an applicant. DWI arrests will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
* An applicant cannot have been convicted of a Domestic Violence Act. Domestic related arrests will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
* No use in the last two (2) years of any illegal drug that would amount to a misdemeanor crime if found in possession (includes marijuana).
* No use in the last five (5) years of any illegal drug that would amount to a felony crime if found in possession (includes felony prescription drug use).
* Any history of discipline, termination or resignation in lieu of termination is grounds for disqualification.
* In state laterals must be currently certified. Out of state laterals must be currently certified and their certification must be recognized and approved by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.
* Any pending administrative actions with any board or commissions will be reviewed and may be cause for disqualification. This shall include reviewing history of using lethal and less lethal force, determining whether the applicant has been named in a civil or criminal action, and assessing use of force training records and complaint history.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Possession of a New Mexico Law Enforcement Certificate or successfully meet the New Mexico Department of Public Safety Certification by Waiver training requirements and eligibility standards.
* Applicants must meet New Mexico Department of Public Safety minimum standards prior to completing probation.
* Must complete an abbreviated APD Lateral Academy.
* Must serve a one (1) year probationary period from the APD Lateral Academy graduation date.
* Any financial accounts referred to collections, written or charged off will be reviewed on a case by case basis and may result in disqualification.
* Must have a valid driver's license and obtain a New Mexico driver's (Class D) license within 30 days of your date of hire.
* Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
