The hours for this position will vary on weekdays between 6:00am-2:00pm and 2:00pm-9:00pm. Provide campus-wide security and ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all students, personnel, and visitors on the premises

Secures premises and personnel by controlling entry and screening all visitors per school policy
Monitor surveillance and security panel alarm systems, communicate necessary information to the supervisor, and facilitate the appropriate emergency response
Assist with safety drills and audits as scheduled
Compile and submit incident reports and other daily reports as required by the supervisor
Assist with dismissal duty daily and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be a former law enforcement officer to qualify for the Virginia School Security Officer (SSO) Certification
Must maintain all required licenses, endorsements, training, and certifications, including, but not limited to, basic first aid, AED, CPR training, Virginia School Security Officer (SSO) Certification, etc.
General knowledge of practices concerning the protection of school buildings and grounds
Ability to recognize and identify activities or situations that have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention
Ability to think and act quickly, effectively, and responsibly during an emergency; excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Strong ability to provide a very high level of customer service to the school and community.

Position Summary:
The Protection Specialist supports RMC's Department of Defense customers as a subject matter expert in Security Forces, Physical Security, Antiterrorism, and Operational Security (OPSEC). This position directly contributes to Mission Assurance Assessments by identifying risks to critical assets, infrastructure, personnel, and mission support systems. The Protection Specialist evaluates installation protection programs, including Antiterrorism plans, Physical Security measures, and Security Operations, and provides recommendations that enhance integration across law enforcement, security, and Mission Assurance functions. JOB SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for enforcing all local, state, and federal laws and regulations within the airport jurisdiction.

Report unauthorized solicitation to the Airport Authority administration.
Answer calls from various departments within the Airport Authority with courtesy and a cooperative attitude.

EXPERIENCE:
Six months of sworn basic law enforcement experience from a certified Virginia police agency to include satisfactory completion of all field training, required.
Investigative experience, to include misdemeanor, felony and traffic cases, preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Commonwealth of Virginia DCJS “Basic Law Enforcement” certification.
Must maintain or be able to achieve the appropriate level of Virginia Crime Information Network (VCIN) certification.

The Opportunity: Police Officer
The Virginia Port Authority (VPA) is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The VPA owns and through its private operating subsidiary, Virginia International Terminals, LLC (VIT), operates four general cargo facilities Norfolk International Terminals, Portsmouth Marine Terminal, Newport News Marine Terminal and the Virginia Inland Port in Warren County. The VPA leases Virginia International Gateway and the Port of Richmond.
The Virginia Port Authority is seeking Police Officers to perform a variety of law enforcement duties such as responding to calls for service, enforcing traffic and criminal laws; and conducting high visibility patrols on our marine terminals.
What You'll Do: Responsibilities
Performs security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle to deter crime, preserve law and order, and safeguard life and property.
Warns, issues summons, or makes arrests for violations of state laws, local ordinances, or Virginia Port Authority rules and regulations.
Conducts interviews with victims and witnesses and gathers information and evidence regarding investigations.
Responds to calls for the protection of life and property, as well as the enforcement of laws, local ordinances, and Virginia Port Authority rules and regulations.
Controls traffic flow and enforces state and local traffic regulations. Issues citations, makes arrests, and participates in and conduct a variety of criminal investigations.
Maintains compliance with MTSA regulations in accordance with our Facility Security Plan.
Provides assistance to customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner that instills trust and respect within the community.
Investigates and prepares factual reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities. Prepares related documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Testifies in courts and at hearings. Prepares documentation and present case evidence.
Inspects and maintains assigned patrol car, uniform, and equipment. Ensures that all equipment is working properly. Reports any defects in need of correction to leaders.
Remains knowledgeable of court opinions and new and innovative law enforcement techniques and ideas to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Responsibilities
The selected candidate will perform various security duties as outlined by contract requirements and site specific post orders. These duties may include:
Access control for guests, tenants and vendors.
Enforcement of Client and Company policies and procedures.
