* Work in tandem with Operations Department responding to radio calls supporting the transit system. This will include various tasks as requested by the District.

Qualifications:
* Experience as a sworn civilian or military law enforcement officer preferred. Other qualifications may be considered at the discretion of the District.
* Oregon DPSST certification preferred or the ability to obtain.
* Graduation from an approved civilian or Military Police or Corrections academy, or training equivalent/experience preferred.
* High school diploma or GED (minimum). Degree/College coursework preferred.
* Valid Oregon Class C driver's license with acceptable history. Class B with P & A endorsement preferred.
* Sufficient physical strength, flexibility, and endurance to meet LTD standards.
* Requires good physical condition with complete mobility and sensory abilities. This includes the ability to push and pull with 80 pounds of force and drag 165 pounds for 25 feet.
* Must successfully pass an in-depth LTD background investigation and medical evaluation.
Compensation:
This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, eligible for the regular union benefits package. The starting wage is $25.11 per hour during the nine (9) month probationary period. After successful completion of probation, the wage is increased to $27.86 per hour with a percentage wage increases every nine (9) months thereafter until reaching the current top wage of $35.87 per hour. The work schedule for this position is determined by a seniority bid system and varies (days, nights, weekends). Position Purpose:
Public Safety Officers will patrol the Lane Community College campus properties and provide immediate response to threats, emergencies, and dangerous situations. Officers will also provide law enforcement, rules enforcement, and crime prevention for the campus community.
Essential Functions:
* Enforce public laws and campus rules.
* Routinely conduct traffic stops, respond to fire and medical emergencies, assist persons in distress, and maintain order on campus.
* Operate patrol vehicles (motor vehicles, bicycles, and motorized vehicles).
* Officers must have sufficient fitness to perform all essential functions of a law enforcement officer, including making unaided arrests, rendering first aid and CPR, and responding to environmental and other campus emergencies.
* Operate technical devices including computer systems, cameras, radios, and alarms systems inside campus buildings, on-campus lands and in all weather conditions.
* Interact with belligerent individuals and resolve disputes using the minimum level of enforcement action necessary.
* Actively participate in training and master law enforcement tools such as batons, chemical sprays, and handcuffs.
* Enforce parking regulations.
* Fully participate in the on-campus judicial system and work with other law enforcement and fire agencies.

Corrections Officers oversee and ensure the safety of individuals in custody; who have been detained, arrested, awaiting trial or sentenced to a Corrections Facility. Officers provide security for Tribal Court hearings as needed and may be assigned civil subpoena service. Able to perform all necessary assigned duties, learn proper search procedures, fingerprinting and photography. Learn to process evidence as required and write reports. Administer first aid as needed. Requirements
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have a valid Oregon Driver's License and pass a pre-employment drug screen and comprehensive. Certification in First Aid/CPR helpful but not required. Applicants must have no felony convictions on record and no disqualifying misdemeanor ‘convictions. Physical coordination to operate equipment, visual acuity for performing necessary tasks, ambulatory ability to walk/run and ability to obtain Corrections certification within one year of appointment. DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Security Department at St. Charles Health System provides services which promote the physical and psychological safety of patients, visitors, and caregivers.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Public Safety Officer ensures the safety of patients, caregivers, and visitors of St. Charles Health System. This position ensures the safety and security of all property, including buildings, equipment, and assets on St. Charles Health System property. The Public Safety Officer adheres to all applicable rules and provisions of the Oregon Administrative rules and statutory authority to transport patients safely and securely. The Officer is frequently called to situations with patients in a behavioral health crisis that could potentially become violent and ensures safe transportation of those patients to other facilities in accordance with the St. Charles Code of Ethics. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Performs secure transport. When called for a secure transport, the officer will assess the need for restraints, and using the least restrictive method possible will secure the patient in a caged vehicle in accordance with Oregon state statutes.
Adheres to all provisions outlined in the St. Charles Behavioral Health code of ethics, including all integrity guidelines.
Responds to emergency codes.
Works as a security dispatcher, taking calls, coordinates officer movement and priorities, interacts with tracking software and completes reports. Monitors security cameras and other security systems.
Responsible for completing timely and accurate reports such as, but not limited to, code gray debriefs, after action reports, and special security reports.
Monitors parking and enforces hospital parking rules.
Escalates all policy violations to security leadership.
Serves as front line customer representative for the hospital. Greets patients and visitors and provides wayfinding services.
Conducts real-time threat assessments and makes recommendations upon recognition or notification of any real or perceived threat to the organization, facility, department, or caregiver.
Removes all items the patient could use to injure themselves or others.
Operates vehicle in a safe manner in accordance with all traffic laws while transporting the patient.
In the event of an emergent situation with a patient, renders first aide or CPR as appropriate within their scope.
Completes all required documentation to the standards of all regulatory agencies.

Operates metal detector (stationery and handheld) and maintains its use within policy.

Leads de-escalation support as situations require.
Coordinates with the Admitting and Nursing staff to ensure all entrances are monitored.
Responsible for crowd control during a mass casualty or event which may bring numerous patients and non-patients to the hospital.
Monitors cameras and secure doors and respond to alarms related to facility related problems. Troubleshoots system issues as trained.
Follows all safety rules and procedures for work areas.
Functions as an unlicensed assistive care provider under the direction and supervision of Registered Nursing.
