What You'll Do
As a City Year AmeriCorps member, your service will focus on coaching and
mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students. You will help these
students earn academic success, improve their attendance, and develop positive
behaviors at school. You will plan and monitor individual student progress and
work with teachers on whole class instruction, breakout spaces and other in-class
student assistance.
Role and Responsibilities
Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at
the beginning of the year to support you. Plus, you will work with partner teachers
and school staff every step of the way.
Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students:
· Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
· Develop literacy and/or math skills varying learning activities by student level,
answering student questions and encouraging assignment completion
· Create and implement a behavior management system for students
· Develop interpersonal skills throughout their day, using proven strategies of
learning, practicing, reflection and repetition
· Collaborate with teachers and team members to collect, record, analyze and
monitor individual student progress, participating in facilitated reviews of student
data collected and entered into City Year's student data system· Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher
Support Whole School initiatives to increase engagement with students and
families:
· Support and/or conduct extended day and virtual programming for students
before, during and after school including, but not limited to, academic enrichment
and intervention, homework support, recreation and student clubs, service
learning, and leadership development
· Create, support and/or co-lead events or programs that recognize and appreciate
student growth and/or achievement in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior

Description:
Maintain a positive, cheerful and friendly demeanor with customers and co-workers. Efficiently serve food in a friendly and courteous manner and follow the service sequence and standards of the club according to the training manual. Follow all Touchstone safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance.
Essential job functions:
Prepare coffee breaks, carts, and stations with appropriate food and beverages as stated in Banquet Event Order.
Prepare tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert table/carts and cordial carts.
Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
Ensure courses are cleared and tables are properly crumbed. Respond to and try to fulfill any special banquet event arrangements.
For plated events, serve and remove tableware in accordance with Touchstone standards.
Replenish buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation. Monitor tableware to ensure it is presentable to guests.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
Bus tables by removing and separating tableware, plate-ware, glassware, and flatware.
Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
Requirements:
Physical Demands:
Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk and crouch
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects.
Qualifications:
State required alcohol seller server certification and food handling certification
Requires ability to frequently lift/move up to 30lbs.
