Job Responsibilities:
The team is looking for a lab manager / system administrator for our product development lab. Candidate will be working with a small engineering team to help ensure out systems are operational, configured correctly and performing correctly. We are responsible measuring the power and performance of various server platforms including both internal and competitive systems. We need someone who is comfortable with server assembly, operation, SW installation and debug/repair of hardware. Ideal candidate would have networking experience including switches, SDN, VLANs etc. Candidate would be responsible for racking, stacking and maintaining servers as well as installing parts (e.g. processors, memory, storage, NICs, etc.) for both rack and bench systems. Candidate would serve as a key enabler for offsite resources by resetting systems, swapping out parts, and providing overall scheduling for server usage.
Job Qualifications:
Familiarity and proficiency with hardware installation – Candidate must be able to install and remove CPUs, memory, peripherals, and storage media (e.g. SSDs, NVMe, etc.). Basic proficiency in both Linux and Windows – Candidate must be able to install an OS from ISO on a system. Candidate must be able to login to a system, determine and/or set an IP address and create an account/set password. Good communication skills – Candidate must be able to clearly communicate observations in the lab to remote engineers. Candidate must be able to ask clarifying questions of remote engineers to accomplish tasks. Willingness to learn – Candidate must be able to quickly learn line-of-business applications in AMD for specific technical tasks. Attention to detail – Candidate must have good attention to detail. Our requests tend to be complex, and all steps must be carried out. The candidate will also need to record part installations and locations in a log as they occur. Self-starter – Candidate must be a self-starter and highly motivated. The candidate will be working alone often and will need to be able to prioritize issues and work without close oversight. Physical Requirements – Candidate needs to be able to lift 50lbs and be flexible enough to get under a raised floor as needed. Prior experience in server assembly, software installation, server operation, and debug. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Friendly, helpful and a can-do attitude.

Duties: Performs the following to include but not be limited to overall support for setting up and maintaining the physical network required for the Mission Training Complex (MTC) classrooms, VBS3 Enhanced Convoy Training System, and Battle Simulations Center (BSC). Must have knowledge of networks, communications and file transfer protocols, and basic knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration. Must be capable of creating and installing LAN cables and physical moving & arranging of equipment. Must be able to monitor simulation system performance to ensure maximum optimization, troubleshoot and identify system issues. Resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all Army Mission Command System (AMCS) platforms including email, file transfer, multimedia, and teleconferencing. Analyze voice, data, and multi-media communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media, and other devices. Coordinate requirements with the JLCCTC ERF Federation users and senior system administrators and the LVC-IA administrators. Administer network security and work with vendors to evaluate new products and resolve equipment design problems. Provide guidance and leadership to virtual warriors, unit staffs and MTC staff. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies and participate in special projects. Secondary duties will include being familiar with Risk Management Framework policies and procedures. Provides and executes cross training with other technicians and perform other duties assigned by the section lead.
Basic Qualifications:
- Capable of performing tasks at the system administrator level, with a working knowledge of Red Hat, Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of and experience with army staffs from Company to Division levels
- Must be a US citizen with a secret or higher security clearance; applicant will be subject to a government security investigation
- Must be willing to travel outside Fort Carson 2-4 times/year for up to 3 week/trip
- Must be a disciplined worker capable of meeting short suspense’s without intense supervision
- Understanding of MCIS, simulation/stimulation concepts, gateways, interfaces, and architectures, and the Army Constructive Training Federation/Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability models and the Live, Virtual, Constructive-Interoperability Architecture
- Experience as a simulation analyst on military simulation projects
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Army Mission Command Systems
- Understanding of the Army command levels, command posts, and Mission Command War Fighting Function
- CompTIA certification in Security+ as per DoD 8570 requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in a battalion or Higher S6 section preferred
- 5+ years of experience in IT

General Summary of Position
The Networking and Server Technician works independently on assigned projects and provides troubleshooting for Hurley employees and affiliates. Technician will provide support for workstations and perform server administration. The Technician will also maintain computer, network, and communications equipment used by Hurley’s multiple offices. These activities will occur on site and remotely; and may also be time critical .
