Bellingham Technical College maintains a pool of applicants available to perform part-time on-call temporary hourly assignments during the fiscal year.
These are on-call, temporary assignments available on an as needed basis throughout the year, in areas such as Admissions, Bookstore, Business Services, Career Center, Continuing Education, Financial Aid, Fiscal/Accounting, Library, and Registration. Hours may be up to 40 per week, depending on the position. However hours are not guaranteed and assignments are based on the needs of the individual departments.
Work is generally scheduled during the hours between Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However some assignments may be available on weekends or evenings. Temporary workers will be called on an as needed basis to work during College hours.

Compensation:
Effective July 1, 2025, the hourly rate is generally in the range of $20.43 to $23.23 per hour. Minimum Qualifications
* Must possess a Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or learner's permit with passenger and air brake restrictions lifted before hire. Permit holders must pass on-site training to obtain a Washington State Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsement within 90 days of hire. Current Washington CDL holders must pass training on driving Community Transit's fleet within 90 days of hire.
* Able to demonstrate a good driving record (no more than 2 moving violations and 2 accidents in the past 5 years) based on a 5-year driving records report.
* Experience in and understanding of preventive maintenance.
* Ability to read and understand service manuals and find information to complete assigned tasks.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for job assignments.

Working Conditions

You must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. You must also be able to work in an environment with grease, dust, dirt, chemicals, solvents, carbon monoxide, shop environment fumes, and diesel fumes from vehicles and machinery. Some lifting more than 50 pounds is required.
This position is considered safety-sensitive under the U.S. Department of Transportation and is subject to drug and alcohol testing under both DOT and Community Transit authority.

Key Responsibilities
Household Management & Organization
Maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, garage, etc.), suggesting new and improved systems as needed
Reset and tidy rooms daily (vacuum high-traffic areas, load/unload dishwasher, wipe counters); ensure home is prepped for weekly cleaning services
Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding) and manage donation drop-offs/pickups
Prepare for family events, holidays, and guest stays
Support packing/unpacking for travel or transitions between Edmonds and Cle Elm homes
Tackle occasional deep cleans (washing machine, humidifiers, air purifiers, etc.)
Family Support & Childcare AssistanceAssist with after-school and activity pick-ups, drop-offs, and coordination
Provide light supervision or backup childcare as necessary
Help kids with executive functioning and maintaining clean spaces
Errands & Inventory Management
Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
Create and manage running household supply lists
Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping
Handle packages, mail sorting, and organization of household paperwork
Meal Planning, Prep & Kitchen Support
Plan weekly family dinner menus to accommodate family dietary preferences and restrictions (gluten-free household; child with celiac)
Prepare and cook 2-3 family-friendly dinners per week
Grocery shop for all meal ingredients, maintaining a stocked and organized kitchen
Pack school lunches for the kids
Monitor refrigerator contents, cleaning out old/spoiled food on a regular basis
Keep the kitchen clean and organized after cooking
Laundry & Linen Care
Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (clothing, bedding, towels)
Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
Vendor & Property Oversight
Supervise/coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed
Manage routine upkeep across main property (Edmonds) and mountain property (Suncadia)
Ensure mountain property readiness for family or guest use as needed
Oversee property-specific systems (e.g., HVAC, security, pool maintenance)
Pet Care
Walk the dog daily
Maintain organized stock of pet supplies
Refill pet water bowls and monitor basic care needs
Optional: Open to occasional pet sitting when family is traveling
Administrative & Personal Assistant Support
Stay aware of family calendars and upcoming events, providing reminders for school events, birthday parties, scheduling conflicts, etc.
Anticipate needs in advance of upcoming events/trips (packing lists, gifts, travel prep)
Vehicle Management
Schedule and oversee maintenance, oil changes, and detailing
