Responsibilities include: participating in the development and provision of new professional training curriculum, developing and provision of training curriculum regarding Mental Health services, outreach and implementation of community and family trainings regarding MH topics, and maintaining training documentation following agency procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement training curriculum

  • Provide Orientation training to new employees in DD/ABI services including but not limited to: RIT and extended orientation (schedule of training to be shared with Employee Development Specialist)
  • Develop and implement orientation curriculum for new employees in MH services based on regulations, team and Associate Director request
  • Assist in the provision of required annual trainings for agency employees
  • Develop and provide short topic MH trainings for families and community groups such as schools, service providers, etc.
  • Assist in the provision of the Manager training and Supervisory Professional Development series
  • In conjunction with department management and the Employee Development Specialist, research community resources, training opportunities, and/or develop new training curriculum based on employee/participant need

Documentation

  • Create new training file for new hire/archive training records for employee terminations
  • Assist with input and monitoring of agency employee training filing system
  • Assist with assignment of trainings
  • Assist with training material preparation and set-up as needed
  • Assist Employee Development Specialist with the utilization and management of Litmos
  • Complete agency required program/statistical reports and records and any fiscal data for MH training and outreach as directed by supervisor

Community Education, Advocacy and Outreach

  • Provide direct Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (CORE) Family Support & Training services to assigned participants/families
  • Document direct services provided utilizing the agency's Electronic Health Record
  • Complete agency required program/statistical reports and records and any required fiscal data as directed by supervisor (Including Monthly Outreach Report).
  • Provide information and advocacy regarding available agency and community services to individuals, families and groups requesting such information
  • To expand reach of the program and knowledge of agency services specific to supporting families, conduct at least 6 informational outreach contacts per month to various community groups/resources
  • Provide education to new agency staff by facilitating training regarding Mental Health topics (Mental Health 101) on a quarterly basis.
  • Provide education and training to community mental health professionals as requested (ie: NAMI, NYAPRS, etc.)

Community and Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with participants, families, other agencies, program staff, co-workers and supervisor
  • Participate in Agency and community meetings, committees and task teams as identified by supervisor

Follows Agency standards and procedures

  • Follows agency standards and procedures
  • Maintains compliance with applicable rules and regulations
  • Provides person centered, family-oriented, quality services
  • Works with the Quality Enhancement department to maintain knowledge of program training requirements/regulations and industry best practices

Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

Associates degree in human service field preferred.

High school diploma/GED plus 1 year experience working with people with a developmental disability or mental health diagnosis required.

One or more years of training presentation experience required.

Position requires good verbal and written communication skills, and public speaking skills.

Must be able to demonstrate teamwork and professionalism.

Basic word processing, power point, and e-mail skills are required.

Conditions of Employment:

Schedule flexibility to accommodate occasional morning, evening and weekend trainings. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds. Must have a valid New York State driver's license in accordance with the Agency's Vehicle and Driving Policy and transportation necessary to meet job responsibilities. Must participate in successful database checks through the HHS Office of Inspector General, Excluded Parties List System, New York Office of Medicaid Inspector General and Specially Designated Nationals.
