Position Requirements
A high school diploma and previous experience as a Meter Service Mechanic or the equivalent is required. The selected candidate must hold one of the following licenses in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job: Preferred: S1, S2, S3, S4, Second Preference: S5, S6, S7, S8, P1, P2 Acceptable: D1, D2, Minimally Acceptable: G1, G2. In lieu of a license, internal Eversource employees with at least 10 years of experience as a fully qualified Gas Meter Service Mechanic will also be considered for this position. The ability to perform inspections of non-handicapped accessible areas; to operate a motor vehicle and to lift and move material in excess of 50 lbs. is required. The selected candidate must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights. Visual acuity must be sufficient to perform wiring tasks, including cable color-code discernment. The selected candidate must be familiar with MS Windows based applications and data input. The selected candidate must be available to work extensive overtime when required, as well as able to work a rotating day and evening shift. A valid driver's license required.
Position Summary
Individual will, under general supervision, install, remove, adjust and repair all types of residential and commercial gas metering equipment including repair of residential heating and water heating equipment. In addition, the selected candidate will: Reconnect and disconnect gas services. Service customer owned gas appliances. Investigate gas odor complaints and provide repair. Install, remove, and change various sizes and types of gas meters. Investigate high bill complaints. Remove, replace and install ERT devices. Remove, repair, replace, and install various sizes and types of piping. Communicate effectively and professionally with customer complaints at all levels. Responsible for on-call emergency responses.

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position.
