Benefits: ATL compensation and benefits include a package valued at over $2,400/mo.
ATLs will receive a Living Allowance of $520/week, paid bi-weekly.
ATLs obtain an Education Award for the amount of $3,697.50 (for 900 hours) upon successful completion of service.
ACE provides ATLs with food during all project days; ATLs are responsible for providing their own food on off-days.
ACE provides ATLs with free housing during their term of service. When working in or near the Pacific West Division, ATLs spend off days in our hostel-style housing in Sacramento, CA. When working remotely, ATLs will be provided tents and campsites in those remote locations. The ATL will provide their own blankets/pillow/sleeping bag/towels.
AmeriCorps Team Leaders may also be eligible for qualifying child care coverage and federal loan forbearance. Additional enrollment steps are required.
Gear: ACE provides each ATL their own tent. The ATL will provide their own sleeping bag, sleeping pad, rain gear, and hiking boots. Upon acceptance to the program, ATLs will receive a more extensive packing list. Weather can be highly variable, so plan on bringing layers of warm clothing and adequate rain gear. ATLs will have access to deeply discounted Pro Deals via Outdoor Prolink once they are offered and accept a position, and will have the opportunity to purchase discounted gear prior to their arrival.
Travel: ACE provides transportation to and from worksites; personal vehicles are not necessary throughout the ATL's term of service. ACE does not provide relocation assistance.
Position Description:
ATLs serve in professionally supervised teams as they explore future outdoor careers, learn practical field skills, and develop confidence as emerging leaders in the field of conservation. ATLs are afforded opportunities to learn and train under the guidance of professional mentors within ACE, while gaining invaluable career perspectives working alongside staff from the National Park Service, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and many other stewards of our nation's public lands. ATLs are expected to assist Crew Leaders in all aspects of crew work and life, including leading portions of crews independently, serving as an interim Crew Leader in the event of staff absences, setting a positive example for members, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Applicants should be prepared to perform physically challenging labor on environmental and conservation projects for 10 hours a day. Applicants should expect to hike extended distances on rough terrain carrying backpacks, tools, and equipment, and be prepared to spend 8 consecutive days in the field, on each project. ATLs will work in a variety of weather conditions such as temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, high winds, intense sunshine, rain, and snow.

About the Role
This role has direct or delegated program authority and responsibility to ensure that adequate veterinary care and environmental enrichment including all aspects of animal welfare, in accordance with current regulatory and veterinary practices, is always provided. Adequate veterinary and environmental enrichment programs include daily animal care, disease prevention; health surveillance, examination, diagnoses, treatment, and control of diseases; providing appropriate anesthesia and analgesia, surgery, post-surgical care; assessment of animal well-being; humane euthanasia. Examines, diagnoses, and treats laboratory animals to ensure the health of animals used in scientific research and to comply with regulations governing their humane and ethical treatment by performing the following duties.
What You'll Do Here
Oversee the provision of routine and/or specific veterinary medical support for all animal species
Oversee the provision of daily environmental enrichment program
Assign staff as appropriate to meet study objectives
Direct and approve departmental resources, personnel, fiscal assignments/budget proposals and allocations
Assure the personnel, resources, facilities, equipment, materials, and methodologies in their areas are available as scheduled
Assure the development, review, revision and implementation of SOPs, SSPs, policies, training manuals and/or checklists relating to animals, technical procedures, facility issues and data generation in their areas
Provide professional leadership in the care and resolution of complex medical cases and operational issues that arise within the animal facilities
Oversee and assist in the design and implementation of the animal welfare and preventive medicine program for all animal species, including sentinel programs
Oversee and provide training and supervision of staff regarding technical procedures and appropriate and humane use of animals in their programs
Provide specialized procedural consultations for clients, study directors and staff in program development related to animal use
Participate in the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC, including reviewing protocols, animal colony issues, management issues and consultations
Provide leadership as a recognized expert in animal regulatory law
Generate or direct the necessary reports for department and regulatory requirements
Oversee or order necessary supplies and equipment and equipment validation when required
Consult with clients and staff in the selection of animals for specific research based on knowledge of species and research principles and techniques
Communicate areas of accountability and performance expectations to staff
Establish standards of performance as a basis to review progress of staff
Manage the DEA Controlled Substances program including inventory requirements, regulations and appropriate training

Provide expertise and assistance with training sessions involving husbandry, veterinary care, and utilization of animal models
Provide expertise for the development of health and safety, emergency response and occupational health programs

What You'll Need to Succeed
DVM or equivalent

The Supervisor of Undocumented and International Support Services performs a full range of administrative, programmatic, and technical duties and services in support of international, undocumented, and immigration-impacted students who are interested in or are attending Sierra College.
The Supervisor oversees and coordinates assigned functions, activities, and services of the Undocumented Student Center, as well as participates in the daily activities of providing international, undocumented, and immigration-impacted students with specialized information, assistance, support, connections, referrals, and training. The Supervisor also partners with campus stakeholders and community organizations to: provide resources and deliver services for undocumented and immigration-impacted students; effect a student-centered support ecosystem; maximize international, undocumented, and immigration-impacted students' access to all available support services; and, promote student equity, success, retention, and completion by removing structural and systemic barriers to degree and credential attainment. The Supervisor effectively engages in partnership development, grant management, and reporting duties in support of the Undocumented Student Center and international students, and the position requires maintaining currency regarding topical issues, emerging strategies, best practices, legislation, and local, state, and federal policies related to international, undocumented, and immigration-impacted students. * Provides proactive, personalized support to undocumented and immigration-impacted students by connecting and meeting with them and their families on a regular basis at all District locations (Rocklin, Roseville, Nevada County and Tahoe-Truckee), as well as off-campus as needed.
