CITY OF GALLATIN The purpose of this position is to perform intermediate skilled work in the construction and maintenance of the installation and relocation of gas service lines, meters, regulators and related devices; does related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma/GED. * Two to five (2-5) years' recent work experience in natural gas distribution operations or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. * Must hold current API certification in the electrical arc-welding of natural gas lines. * Must have a valid driver's license. SPECIALL REQUIREMENTS: * Must successfully complete Operator Qualification training administered by the Gallatin Natural Gas Department within 6 months of hire/promotion into the class, and must retain qualification throughout employment in order to work on the City of Gallatin's natural gas system. * This position is subject to DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) drug and alcohol testing as outlined in 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 199. Perform all necessary operational and maintenance duties of the wastewater treatment plant. Operate computer using a windows environment, use spreadsheets, word processors, and utilize computerized SCADA system. Ability to operate and maintain all wastewater treatment plant equipment and lift stations. Ability to monitor plant operations regularly for proper operation and treatment. Perform maintenance of equipment related to maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations to include calibration of feeders and instruments, and repair feeders, pumps, motors, hoists, backflow preventers, valves, and other treatment equipment. Operate Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, maintain, calibrate and repair electronics equipment. Enter and update files on computer for preparing reports, spreadsheets, historical information, maintenance records and letters as directed. Maintain sanitary cleanliness of work areas, the treatment plant and associated facilities. Maintain records in compliance to Federal, State and City regulations. Work safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State and City regulations. Report any accidents immediately to supervisor. Correctly wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must have a Wastewater and Collection System License or the ability to obtain. GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB This is the stand alone position. Incumbents analyze, inspect, test, maintain and repair a variety of vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities may include maintaining and repairing brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, exhaust, axle assemblies, air conditioning, and related systems; performing minor body repair; changing and repairing tires; aiding disabled vehicles; and maintaining maintenance and repair records. ***PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES EXPERIENCE WITH MAINTAINING, TROUBLESHOOTING, AND REPAIRING SMALL ENGINES AND WILL REMAIN OPEN THROUGH NOVEMBER 25, 2025, OR UNTIL FILLED.*** Example of Duties SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions: Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs complex, skilled repairs and/or overhauls to vehicles and equipment in assigned area of responsibility, including inspecting, and replacing of broken or worn parts. Diagnoses, repairs, cleans, adjusts, and installs fuel, ignition, electrical and cooling systems involving repair and replacement of applicable parts which, depending on assignment, may include carburetors, fuel pumps, starter motors, distributors, generators/alternators, voltage regulators, wiring, switches, batteries, radiators, thermostats, and water pumps. Performs preventative maintenance and servicing activities which, depending on assignment, may include changing oil; changing filters; applying lubricants; checking fluid levels; inspecting brakes, chassis components, and tires; and performing related activities. Completes a variety of logs, documents, and/or simple reports regarding quantity of materials handled, equipment operations, vehicle conditions, maintenance, and repair activities, and/or related information. Cleans shop floor, drain pan, buckets, etc.; disposes of unusable replacement parts such as batteries, brake drums, etc.; disposes of used motor oil, transmission fluid, and antifreeze. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Typical Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent. Two (2) years experience in small engine repair. License and Certifications Possession of a valid driver's license.
