They will need to be proficient in using various hand and power tools, rigging, and understanding mechanical systems. Supports Mechanical Shops on miscellaneous projects. Must be proficient in the use of metalworking machines and tools to fabricate new machine components and repair defective components. The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4pm, and shift work, including when the University is closed and/or other events after 5pm on weekdays, weekends and holidays when management deems necessary. the ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management, regardless of weather, will be required. Perform other assigned duties related to operations, maintenance, and renovations to buildings and equipment, such as preventative maintenance, light duty carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other miscellaneous repairs and maintenance activities; and respond to emergency and urgent work. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc). These items are provided and not for personal use. this position regularly stands, bends, stoops, lifts above the shoulders, is heavy in manual labor, and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and in excess of 50 lbs occasionally. Required Qualifications High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) Three years of experience in machine shop operations on various metalworking machines, mechanical seal repairs/replacement, bearing repairs/replacement, and welding, cutting, and brazing. Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
