General Description The entry-level Locksmith assists in installing, repairing, and maintaining locks and door hardware to support the safety and security of Hidalgo County employees and the public. This position supports the Master Locksmith and works under the guidance of senior staff. Examples of Work Performed Assists with daily locksmith tasks and projects as assigned. Helps maintain records related to locks, keys, and work performed. Learns to disassemble and repair various types of locks including padlocks, door locks, and safe locks. Cuts new or duplicate keys under supervision. Assists with maintaining the County's set of master keys. Supports the completion of work orders and ensures tasks are done in a timely manner. Helps track and organize shop supplies, tools, and equipment. Assists in estimating basic labor and material needs for small tasks. Works with other trades and staff to complete assigned projects.
