Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS High school diploma/GED. EPA certification. Certification from an accredited vocational-technical or trade school a plus! Minimum 3-4 years of commercial refrigeration experience required. Experience working on refrigeration equipment in convenience stores or supermarkets a strong plus. Familiarity with single systems and rack systems along with previous work on display cases and walk-in boxes is very helpful. Must have a good driving record and be able to work independently. Emergency on-call availability is a basic requirement. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. with no assistance and also be able to sit and/or stand for several hours at a time. Provides service to the customer base by repairing and overhauling equipment, such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, electrical and mechanical control devices in a safe, efficient and timely manner that exceeds customers' expectations Provides general repair work on refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment, such as air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, ice machine equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors and electric motors in a safe and timely manner. Provides preventative maintenance activities for customers by diagnosing equipment malfunction and any operating deficiency of the mechanical equipment to ensure quality work performance for the customer base. Test malfunctioning systems and components using electrical and/or mechanical skills. Maintain legible corporate and personal records of work history. Exchange, rebuilds, and overhauls motors, transmissions, differentials, and other motor vehicle components and systems. Distributes motor vehicle supplies. Inventories parts and equipment. Maintains records on the operation and repair of motor vehicles and other equipment. May assist in the development of training programs. May maintain and repair heavy construction equipment. May train others. Performs other such related duties as may be assigned. Experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repair work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent, supplemented by technical courses in motor vehicle maintenance and repair, is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and repair techniques, and of safety practices and principles of departmental policies and record - keeping procedures, and of electrical and computerized systems and emission control systems. Ability to follow instructions, to locate and diagnose defective mechanical operations, to maintain records to communicate effectively and to train others. The ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred. Requires two certifications from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence. May require a Texas Motor Vehicle Safety Inspector license and Texas Certified Tow Operator. Requires a valid Texas Commercial driver's license.
