The Corrosion Technician is responsible for all facets of field executed corrosion prevention duties including cathodic protection, internal corrosion control, atmospheric corrosion control, protective coating and linings, materials selection and design/project support. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors and assesses corrosion control efforts for assigned midstream assets. Performs cathodic protection surveys. Takes scheduled readings of monitoring devices. Reports findings. Initiates remedial measures as necessary. Maintains and performs repairs and preventative maintenance on corrosion control equipment. Performs pipeline corrosion defect assessments. Inspects and tests, with guidance, coating applications. Maintains complete, accurate and regulatory-compliant documentation. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required Valid Driver's License required Must be able to pass drug test and background check Must be able to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays SKILLS: Corrosion Control Industry Standards: Developing knowledge of and practical experience with industry standards for corrosion prevention and control from American Petroleum Institute (API), NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) International, Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) and related organizations. Corrosion Mechanisms: Developing working knowledge of corrosion mechanisms affecting midstream assets. Corrosion Technologies: Developing knowledge of and practical experience with intrusive and non-intrusive technologies such as probes and non-destructive testing used to detect signs of corrosion in midstream assets and measuring effectiveness of corrosion prevention methods. Equipment Maintenance: Developing knowledge of and ability to perform asset-specific preventative and predictive maintenance to assure equipment operation at acceptable performance levels.
