As a Barge Services Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing advanced mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on a variety of barge systems and equipment within the shipyard. This role requires extensive mechanical knowledge, precision, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to ensure the reliable operation of shipyard services and equipment. The position is located in Norfolk, VA and will often require hours beyond a standard work week with flexible schedule availability to support production/operations. Position may require limited travel. Position will work 8 hours shifts Monday-Friday and 4 hour shifts Saturday-Sunday. Must be available to work all holidays and be on call 24/7. Position will require a current active DBIDS or the ability to get one. Your Role as a Service Technician: As a Service Technician at Tire Discounters, you'll perform various automotive services, including tire installation and maintenance, steering and suspension, alignments, brakes, engine diagnostic, drivability, and preventative, corrective, and routine maintenance services. Your Skills & Qualifications: * 2+ years of automotive repair experience (ASE certifications preferred but not required). * Must have own tools (tool purchase program available). * Ability to operate automotive vehicle lifts, shop tools and equipment (diagnostic scanner experience a plus). * Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills. * Ability to stand for long periods, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs. * Valid driver's license and availability to work Saturdays. * Comfortable with occasional exposure to mechanical hazards and outdoor conditions. * Authorized to work in the USA (18+).
