Responsibilities Under general supervision, maintain machinery, equipment, facilities or vehicles as needed and as efficiently and timely as possible. Repair and perform preventative maintenance to ensure the most efficient operation. Identify and diagnosis problems on equipment and continually monitor equipment while initiating appropriate repair processes. Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Inspect parts, replacements, alignment, balancing, installation and refurbishment on a wide variety of equipment. Coordinate with the supervisor on tasks ranging from simple part replacement, advanced troubleshooting and preventative/predictive maintenance interventions ensuring that equipment is properly configured and/or set up. Install, maintain, rebuild, replace parts, equipment and machinery and troubleshoot maintenance problems. Perform maintenance planning and scheduling activities to assign equipment work orders. Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or directed. Job Title: Field Service Technician Reports to: Equipment Supervisor Repairs and maintains electrical, mechanical, computer, and industrial controls of mechanical equipment that are located in production settings. Supervisory Responsibilities N/A Essential Duties Proper installation of mechanical equipment Train Customers and Operators on the proper use of the equipment sold and serviced by Volm. Prepare and test all equipment to be shipped by to shipment. Troubleshoot existing equipment and new installations when issues arise. Electrical, Hydraulics, HVAC, and Cab * Understands, tests, and repairs complex electrical systems. Includes but is not limited to Deutsch and Ampseal Connectors, 6/12/24 battery voltage systems, monitor interfaces, and repair/replace varies harness types. * Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC systems to include evacuating, recharging, and replacing components when required. * Builds and designs complete custom electrical circuits. Undercarriage * Troubleshoots and repair of various frame and suspension systems including tracks, track pads, drive sprockets, and idlers. Continued Development * Participates in continued education and training initiatives as outlined in the Western States Equipment Technician Career Development Plan. (TCDP) * Utilizes service manuals (STW, SIS and parts books) to address technical issues and perform all required tasks within technician level abilities, in accordance to printed procedures. * Utilizes parts reusability guidelines. * Completes actual service reports for files and warranty purposes using STW for timely work order closing. * Addresses all inquiries in a prompt and friendly manner in an effort to meet or exceed internal/external client expectations. * Performs other duties as assigned while developing a mindset for technician productivity. Completion of a 2-year trade school related to wind turbines or electrical and instrumentation can be substituted for experience. Completion of a six-month trade school related to wind turbines or electrical and instrumentation must be accompanied by one year of experience. As a Valve Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, assessing, repairing, and testing various types of industrial valves. Electrical, Hydraulics, HVAC, and Cab Understands, tests, and repairs complex electrical systems. Includes but is not limited to Deutsch and Ampseal Connectors, 6/12/24 battery voltage systems, monitor interfaces, and repair/replace varies harness types. Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC systems to include evacuating, recharging, and replacing components when required. Builds and designs complete custom electrical circuits. Undercarriage Troubleshoots and repair of various frame and suspension systems including tracks, track pads, drive sprockets, and idlers. Continued Development Participates in continued education and training initiatives as outlined in the Western States Equipment Technician Career Development Plan. (TCDP) Utilizes service manuals (STW, SIS and parts books) to address technical issues and perform all required tasks within technician level abilities, in accordance to printed procedures. Utilizes parts reusability guidelines. Completes actual service reports for files and warranty purposes using STW for timely work order closing. Addresses all inquiries in a prompt and friendly manner in an effort to meet or exceed internal/external client expectations. Performs other duties as assigned while developing a mindset for technician productivity. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Ability to navigate Microsoft products. Ability to obtain job related certifications for any specialty equipment such as but not limited to dyno testing, forklifts, rigging and overhead cranes, etc. General knowledge of manufacturer specific software. (SIS, ET, and STW) Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others. Consistent attendance and timeliness with the ability to work overtime with limited notice. Working within and promoting Western States' purpose, vision and values. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Associates degree in diesel technology, trade school diploma, preferred. Minimum of five years equivalent experience in a Caterpillar or similar environment with hydraulic, engine and powertrain experience required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. Appropriate technician level tooling required. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English). PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Ability to stand for long periods of time along with walking, sitting, repetitive climbing stairs, reaching (including but not limited to above-shoulder reaching), repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. in accordance with Western States' Lifting Policy to include amount and approach. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies. As a Valve Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, assessing, repairing, and testing various types of industrial valves. You will identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and develop alternative solutions. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to work well in group problem-solving situations, and a commitment to quality and productivity. **Responsibilities** + Repair and test various PRVs, assorted valves, and actuators. + Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly, and testing of PRVs, assorted valves, and actuators at facilities or customer locations. + Follow schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards. + Complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs thoroughly. + Communicate timely updates to management, co-workers, and customers to ensure the timely and successful completion of job responsibilities. + Work closely with co-workers, Quality Assurance, and management/safety coordinator to ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations. **Essential Skills** + High School Diploma or GED with 2-5 years of industrial valve repair experience, or an equivalent number of years of education and experience. + Familiarity with tools and machinery required for daily valve repair duties. + Experience with repairing various valves and actuators, whether pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric. + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. + Effective communication skills to speak before groups of customers or employees. + Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. + Problem-solving skills to deal with a variety of concrete variables in practical situations. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, and climb. + Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. + Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and loud noise. + Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). + Travel up to 10%. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richland, Washington. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $36.00/hr.
