Intermediate knowledge of parametric programming and ladder logic. Basic knowledge of hand tools and some power tools. Responsibilities: The principal responsibility of the Field Service Technician is to provide service and technical support to users of plastic injection molding machines, primarily at customer sites. Travel to customer sites throughout North America, as well as possible travel to Central and South America, to service plastic injection molding machines, including troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, installation, start-up, etc. Be "on-call" for emergency dispatch to customer sites as required. Provide telephone service support to customers when in the office. Assist with modification and re-assembly of in-house machines as required. Any other duties and tasks, consistent with your experience and abilities, which may be assigned. Minimum Requirements: At least five (5) years of experience servicing plastic injection molding machines. Both electrical and hydraulic experience, including the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematic drawings. Valid passport for travel to and from the U.S., and the willingness to do so. Excellent customer service skills and proven ability in developing and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships. Valid unrestricted driver's license with a driving record free of serious incidents, such as DUIs. Sufficient credit or other financial resources to permit unrestricted domestic and international travel pending expense report reimbursement of legitimate business expenses. The ability to safely lift 70 pounds and work in awkward positions such as kneeling, bending, reaching (under machines, above machines, etc.). Preferred Requirements: Ten (10) years of experience servicing plastic injection molding machines, including products from a specific manufacturer. Bi-lingual capability, English / Spanish. Working Conditions: Manufacturing conditions at a wide variety of customer sites. These facilities may have certain standards which all vendors must meet to gain access, including the requirement for drug, background, and health screening. Employment is contingent on employee's compliance with the standards established by each such facility, as evidenced by the results of the required screening. Up to 90% of work time will require travel to work sites throughout North America, with occasional travel to Central and South America possible. Conduct and validate all testing of network equipment to ensure adherence to all Crown Castle Fiber procedures and equipment manufacturer's specifications. Work with the Network Operations Center for final acceptance and testing of all newly installed equipment and rings. Tests to include validation of all provisioning, all alarm monitoring to the NMS (Network Management System), network switch protection, etc. Work with Fiber Optic, SONET, Ethernet and SDH related test equipment including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, BER Test Sets, Sniffers. Perform site survey of remote locations to ensure quality installation of all racks, equipment power plants, fiber cable, etc. Report any and all defects to the Operations Manager and /or OSP Project Engineer. Label and tag all equipment and cabling according to Network Engineering Diagrams. Perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems / issues while assisting the NOC/customer. Participate in on-call rotation schedule for nights and weekends. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned. Perform both hardware and software updates and/or changes to remote site equipment as necessary. Complete and maintain hard copy and/or electronic records of work completed on various assignments. Including, but not limited to, splice diagrams, patch panels, and test results. Interface with customers and carriers in support of service delivery and assurance. What you'll do as a Fiber Splicer Splice fiber optic cables in both aerial and underground telecom infrastructure. Independently build, prep, splice, tag and test new cables to meet client requirements. Locate and repair cables faults to maintain existing cable network without causing signal failure interruptions. Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the cable network. Confirm accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs and routers. Review site surveys, condition discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals for cable installation feasibility. You will maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies What you'll need To be 18 years of age or older Authorization to work in the United States for this company Valid driver's license 2+ years of experience in fiber splicing required Proficient in the use of all test and splicing equipment and must know how to use computer and all software used by the company concerning the completion of fiber optic projects. Knowledge of hot cuts and solid OTDR testing Ribbon splicing knowledge preferred Physical abilities & exposures Routinely: Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, climb sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift.
