The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the people have the support and resources necessary to live meaningful lives, and that they align with their needs and aspirations within their respective program and communities. He/she/they will monitor and ensure active adherence to all plans for each person supported with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The Shift Supervisor will ensure proper support is in place and necessary resources are made available to Direct Support Professionals to ensure proper adherence to person supported scheduled of activities.
The Shift Supervisor serves as a role model to staff and people supported and will help to develop best practices to support both the person supported and Direct Support Professional.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Person Centered Planning
• Ensures that a person-centered focus is used to provide care and support by all staff who work within the program actively seeking out different approaches.
• Promotes the independence and self-determination of individuals, utilizing person-centered practices that focus on the individuals' strengths and preferences while simultaneously addressing their needs.
• Promotes participation in activities of meaningful daily living, such as vocation, recreation, volunteerism, engagement.
• Ensures a positive climate that promotes respect and dignity for people supported.
• Provides opportunities for people support to personalize their environment, schedule and experiences in program.
• Supports the person's independence, choice and outcomes.
Provides prompt, efficient, and personalized support to meet requirements, requests, and concerns.
Regulatory
Provide habilitation services to each client as prescribed in their service plans (CFA, Individual Service plan, Habilitation plan).
• Responsible for overall functioning of the facility during the absence of the Program Director.
• In the absence of the Program Director, supervises and instructs all Direct Support Professionals on shift.
• Responsible for people supported and agency funds and expenditures during shift (petty cash, recreation etc.).
• Ensures coverage of a shift when a Direct Support Professional is absent.
• Acts as a functioning member of the staff, meeting the needs of the people supported
• Responsible for the physical condition of the program including agency vehicles; ensuring that they are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Participates in staff meetings, supervisors' workshops, interdisciplinary team (IDT) and committee meetings.
• Channels approved information pertaining to staff and agency to Program Specialists.
• Provides supervisory counseling and discipline to Direct Support Professionals as necessary
• Identifies facility needs and makes the relevant staff aware.
• Ensure optimal utilization of the resources available in order to achieve efficiencies.
Quality Improvement
• Carries out policies and procedures of SUS, in accordance with OPWDD and other funding sources.
• Reports all incidents, ensuring consistent adherence to OPWDD and agency policies
• Assesses and monitors staff productivity on an ongoing basis.
• Responds appropriately to community, family and agency contacts.
• Maintains, develops and supports the person support to staff assignment
• Meets with Program Director on a regular basis to discuss pertinent shift and Direct Support Professional's issues and successes.
• Monitors Direct Support Professional's time sheets on an as-needed basis.
• Ensure fire drill completion on shift.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or approved equivalent.
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in Intellectual Disabilities/IDD or related field
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
• SCIP-R; CPR & First Aid is required.
• AMAP certification is required

* Educate staff house-wide on utilizing PM Conversation to communicate with the Visitor Management System, ensuring the Concierge team is notified of visitor exceptions and restrictions.
* Collaborate with Nursing, Security, and Risk Management to implement visitor restrictions when needed.
* Maintain and manage the department budget.
* Analyze data and prepare reports.

**Qualifications**
**Required (as evidenced by an attached resume):** Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent. NYSED Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Minimum of six years of Clinical Laboratory experience in Cytogenetics (including chromosome analysis) with two years' experience in supervisory/administrative capacity or equivalent, e.g., training technical staff, knowledge and experience with Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) validation, and maintaining automated instrumentation (slide preparation and/or slide scanning platforms). Excellent oral-written communication.
**Preferred:** Master's Degree in a related field. Experience in maintenance of instrumentation utilized within a Cytogenetics Laboratory. Experience with CoPath software applications. Experience with UroVYsion FISH. Microsoft 365/office software suite.

**Duties of a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Shift Supervisor may include but are not limited to the following:**

+ Designs, implements, and evaluates education of new clinical laboratory personnel/students mandated by NYS DOH. To instruct new personnel, students, and other members of the hospital community in proper procedures relating to the Immunology and/or Flow Cytometry lab sections including; the use of UHIS (Cerner) and LIS (Clinisys & CoPath) order entry and result review screens, new tests additions to the test menu, upgrades to current systems, and any new systems incorporated into the Hospital or Immunology and/or Flow Cytometry Lab sections under the direction of the SL-5 Associate Technical Director. Will act as a resource to less experienced staff
+ Responsible for troubleshooting, emergency repair of instrumentation and data archiving of the imaging system.
+ Oversight of QA functions and monitors. Ensures staff compliance with all regulatory agency standards. Takes corrective action as needed. Insures the validity of test results concurrent to any identified quality control problem. Brings non-conformances to the attention of the Immunology Laboratory's Associate Technical Director SL-5 and /or Section Head, as soon as possible.
+ Proficient in safe laboratory practices according to the Department of Laboratories' Safety Plan, as endorsed by the New York State Department of Health, OSHA/PESH, CAP/CLIA, and other relevant regulatory agencies. Ensures compliance with all Laboratory Safety practices.
+ Performs and reviews Linearities, Correlations, and QA projects and compiles monthly statistics, this also includes test verification and validation data, as assigned.
+ Responsible for daily and monthly monitoring (including documenting monthly review) of the Rees Temperature Monitoring System for Immunology or Flow Cytometry Lab sections as assigned.
+ Assists in the preparation and presentation of laboratory teaching sessions to medical, nursing, and healthcare related professions, students.

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent.
+ NYSED Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
+ Minimum of six years of Clinical Laboratory experience in Clinical Immunology or Flow Cytometry, dependent on the lab section of the position, with two years experience in supervisory/administrative capacity or equivalent, e.g., training technical staff, experience with Standard Operating Procedure writing, inventory management, knowledge and experience with Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) validation dependent on the lab section of the position (Flow Cytometry or Clinical Immunology).

The Shift Supervisor will ensure proper supports are in place and necessary resources are made available to Direct Support Professionals to ensure proper adherence to person supported scheduled of activities. The Shift Supervisor serves as a role model to staff and people supported and will help to develop best practices to support both the person supported and Direct Support Professional. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Person Centered Planning
• Ensures that a person-centered focus is used to provide care and support by all staff who work within the program actively seeking out different approaches.
• Promotes the independence and self-determination of individuals, utilizing person-centered practices that focus on the individuals' strengths and preferences while simultaneously addressing their needs.
• Promotes participation in activities of meaningful daily living, such as vocation, recreation, volunteerism, engagement.
• Ensures a positive climate that promotes respect and dignity for people supported.
• Provides opportunities for people support to personalize their environment, schedule and experiences in program.
• Supports the person's independence, choice and outcomes.
Provides prompt, efficient, and personalized support to meet requirements, requests, and concerns.
Regulatory
• Provide habilitation services to each client as prescribed in their service plans (CFA, Individual Service plan, Habilitation plan).
• Responsible for overall functioning of the facility during the absence of the Program Director.
• In the absence of the Program Director, supervises and instructs all Direct Support Professionals on shift.
• Responsible for people supported and agency funds and expenditures during shift (petty cash, recreation etc.).
• Ensures coverage of a shift when a Direct Support Professional is absent.
• Acts as a functioning member of the staff, meeting the needs of the people supported
• Responsible for the physical condition of the program including agency vehicles; ensuring that they are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Participates in staff meetings, supervisors' workshops, interdisciplinary team (IDT) and committee meetings.
• Channels approved information pertaining to staff and agency to Program Specialists.
• Provides supervisory counseling and discipline to Direct Support Professionals as necessary
• Identifies facility needs and makes the relevant staff aware.
• Ensure optimal utilization of the resources available in order to achieve efficiencies.
Quality Improvement
• Carries out policies and procedures of SUS, in accordance with OPWDD and other funding sources.
• Reports all incidents, ensuring consistent adherence to OPWDD and agency policies
• Assesses and monitors staff productivity on an ongoing basis.
• Responds appropriately to community, family and agency contacts.
• Maintains, develops and supports the person support to staff assignment
• Meets with Program Director on a regular basis to discuss pertinent shift and Direct Support Professional's issues and successes.
• Monitors Direct Support Professional's time sheets on an as-needed basis.
• Ensure fire drill completion on shift.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
