SERVUS company history timeline

1970

In 1970 they opened five days a week at 8403 - 118 Avenue with Treasurer - Manager Mrs.

1987

A government ordered merger of eight Edmonton credit unions forms Capital City Savings on May 15, 1987.

1993

1993: Member cards introduced for wider ATM, Interac access plus direct payment to merchants.

1995

After several name changes and amalgamations over the years, it is renamed Servus Credit Union in 1995.

1996

Capital City Savings and Parkland Savings release websites in 1996.

1997

Capital City launches internet banking in May 1997.

In 1997 they offer investment shares to build capital.

1998

Parkland follows with their online banking in April 1998.

2003

2003: Border CU + Common Wealth CU + Grande Prairie & District S&CU + Fairview and District S&CU = Common Wealth Credit Union.

2008

In 2008, the three merging credit unions return a combined total of $33 million to members.

2010

2010: Servus introduces chip debit cards.

2016

2016: Servus makes our first cheque photo deposit.

2019

2019: Launched online account opening, digital tools in online banking and completed the full suite of digital mobile payment options.

2022

Forbes recognizes Servus as the #1 bank in all of Canada in 2022.
