EXPECTATIONS FOR THE POSITION AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands how to utilize a variety of precise measurement devices correctly.

Overall goal is to produce turned parts by independently setting up and operating machinery to manufacture parts to customer specifications within company standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Job Duties
- Must be able to perform duties and have obtained the knowledge/ skill of Machinist 1st Operation.
- Review machine layout instructions and set up machine per layout.
- Discuss and agree upon changes to layout with Supervisor and Engineering as appropriate.
- Document all changes to machine/tool layout.
- Run production; assure parts meet customer specifications by measuring parts per inspection plan.
- Enter SPC as required and properly respond to out-of-control conditions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining problems.
- Instruct other employees in use, care, and operation of machines as appropriate.
- Perform maintenance on and repair mechanical problems on screw machines as necessary.
- Communicate all necessary information to Management, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, other production departments and follow employees in a professional and courteous manner.
- Complete all paperwork per proper procedures (routing card, tool change logs, count sheets etc.).
- Properly identify parts and enter production into information system.
- Housekeeping: maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner, keep floors clean and free of oil & chips.
- Perform all safety inspections to equipment daily, use proper machine guards and lifting techniques.
- Follow company policies, procedures and safety rules as described in the Employee Handbook
Requirements and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to use basic math and understand instructions
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience on screw machine operation and set up
- Ability to read and understand Blueprints and Inspection Plans
- Ability to use and interpret all precision measuring gauges including micrometers and calipers, comparators and special gauges
