Mr. Mattes has served as our Chief Executive Officer and President as well as a member of the Board since his appointment on April 6, 2020. Prior to joining Coherent and beginning in June 2019, he was a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company, a leading global management consulting firm, providing corporate and strategic consulting services to various clients of the firm. From January 2018 to May 2019, he was an independent corporate advisor. From 2013 to December 2017, he was the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors of Diebold Nixdorf Incorporated, a retail and financial services technology systems company. He also served as its President from 2013 to August 2016. Mr. Mattes was the Senior Vice President, Global Strategic Partnerships at Violin Memory, a computer storage systems company, in 2013. He has also held various senior management positions with Hewlett-Packard Co., a computer technologies company. From 2008 to 2011 he was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hewlett Packard’s Enterprise Services for the Americas. From 2006 to 2008 he was Hewlett Packard’s Chief Sales Officer for the Enterprise Business. Mr. Mattes spent the first 20 years of his career (between 1985 and 2005) at Siemens, holding a variety of senior leadership positions. These culminated in his role as chief executive officer of Siemens Communications Inc., USA, in Boca Raton, Florida. He received his Diplom-Kaufmann in business administration from Ludwig Maximilan University.

Rick Wallace serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of KLA Corporation as well as a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Wallace began as an applications engineer at KLA Instruments in 1988, and has held various general management positions throughout his tenure with the company. Earlier in his career, Wallace held positions with Ultratech Stepper and Cypress Semiconductor.Wallace currently serves on the board of directors of Proofpoint., a security and compliance company.Wallace earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and his Master of Science degree in engineering management from Santa Clara University. Wallace lives in the bay area with his wife and three children.

Christopher Wyse is a President and COO at Projects Unlimited and is based in Dayton, Ohio. He has worked as Executive Vice President at Projects Unlimited and Staff Pharmacist at Walgreens. Christopher works or has worked as Treasurer, Board of Trustees at Victoria Theatre Association and Secretary/ Treasurer, Trustee for Ada Graduate Chapter at Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He studied at London Business School between 2014 and 2014, Harvard Business School between 2011 and 2013, and Columbia Business School between 2005 and 2005.
