The Microbiologist I works independently on assigned Microbiological projects and conducts analyses of raw materials, finished products, and waters. As a professional scientist, the Microbiologist is expected to work under the guidance of supervisors and managers, develop skills and understanding of laboratory procedures, exhibit technical expertise, be able to document data and report findings; and stay current with Microbiological literature and standards for analyses. You will also conduct analyses of samples in accordance with USP, EP, ASTM, AOAC, FDA, EPA procedures, procedures supplied by the client, and other non-routine procedures as encountered. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Carry out Sample Preparation procedures in accordance with documented SOP's or recognized standard reference methods. * Report any deviation from documented procedures to the Sample Preparation Supervisor. * Inform the Sample Preparation Supervisor of any nonconforming event related to client samples, or other departmental operations. * Inform the Sample Preparation Supervisor of any unsafe conditions within the department. * Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment. * Ensure proper functioning of Sample Prep operations by: * Mnitoring the performance of the equipment. * Ensuring adequate inventry of supplies. * Practicing god housekeeping. * Communicate general laboratory issues to the Sample Preparation Supervisor as appropriate. * Some lifting is required, up to 50lbs. * Perform other duties as required by management.

The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment. Job Functions * After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies * Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment * May assist with validation and MDL studies. * Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations. * Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable. * Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures. * Performs other duties as required.
