Job Description
About the role:
As the Lead Maintenance Technician you will provide operational support, maintain and troubleshoot processes, utilities and electrical equipment that support the manufacturing process areas. You will strictly follow mandatory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cGMPs, EHS and Quality Standards in our Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility. You will ensure a safe and efficient hands-on maintenance of all manufacturing and utilities systems/equipment including Tanks, Mixers, Agitators, Centrifuges, Filter Presses, Filtration Skids, CIP Skids, Chilled Water, Industrial Water, WFI, RO, Fill and Packaging Equipment, Vessels, and components such as pumps, fans, and valves. You will report directly to the Supervisor, Maintenance.
How you will contribute:
Lead, instruct, and train technicians to meet the demands of the Maintenance department.
Ensure accurate documentation of PM, CM, and Emergent work order activities through adherence to GDPs.
Represent maintenance department at tier meetings.
Responsible for shift turnover for assigned building.
Interfaces directly with operations to provide updates and coordinate work when supervisor is not available.
Provide a moderate level of troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair of process systems, equipment and equipment components which include valves, pumps, gearboxes, variable frequency drives, utility skids, cleaning equipment, support equipment (lifts, hoists, doors, carts) Troubleshooting may include: mechanical, electrical, metrology, or automation.
Support equipment IQ/OQ/PQ/Validation startup activities.
Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) activities to include Condition Monitoring, Ultrasound, Vibration monitoring and Infrared Technologies.
Develop a basic proficiency in one or more advanced maintenance technology and understand how to apply technology to improve equipment reliability (alignment, balancing, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, or vibration monitoring).
Assist and direct contractor/vendor activities as assigned.
Provide updates on work/projects to related teams (maintenance and manufacturing).
Inspect, repair and maintain facility structures and equipment as directed by immediate supervisor or assigned through work orders.
Support the manufacturing floor by helping set up CIPs, COPs, and equipment LOTOs.
Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance through CMMS system.
Provide input in the development and continuous improvement of the maintenance procedures.
Assist the maintenance supply team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment/systems the team is responsible for.
Ensure that operational log and work order documentation is completed with accurate information
Perform installation and modifications, or work together with Engineering, Maintenance, Process Control, or outside contractors on new installations and modifications.
Initiate corrective action to ensure potentially hazard situations are avoided and safety standards are maintained relative to production or facilities.
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports per Standard Operating Procedures
Responsible for planning/scheduling and performing preventative and corrective work orders as part of the maintenance program.
Provide support on startup of equipment after completion of maintenance activities.
Provide support during calibrations with LOTO or setting up flow path on manufacturing
equipment.
Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with state and federal EPA regulation and laws.
Attend required training and meetings.
Help review the System Specification and Piping Identification Drawing verifications.
Work with customers when the supervisor is not available.
Oversee work performed by team members to ensure execution, resource allocation and complete, and accurate documentation
Familiarity with Change Control, Site, and Divisional SOPs related to position and department is required
Perform procedural (JP's, HECP's, JHA's) revision's (or new documents).
Maintain two-way performance dialogue with your Supervisor to ensure mid, annual, and PDP processes are completed
Have mechanical knowledge of equipment, using P&ID's, equipment manuals, specifications, SOPs, and be when taking corrective actions during equipment malfunctions.
Have or gain knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical qualifications.
Have or gain knowledge of FDA, OSHA, EH&S, EPA, and state of Georgia requirements.
What you bring to Takeda:
Typically requires high school diploma or GED.
4+ years of experience
Can read wiring diagrams, loop drawings and P&ID drawings.
Experience with PLC, Microprocessor, and control system logic.
Can spec out like for like instrumentation, to meet manufacturing process requirement
Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing and basic chemical and biological safety procedures.
Knowledge of basic laboratory and pharmaceutical production equipment including: autoclaves, process tanks, incubators, analytical equipment, and CIP/SIP systems.
Proficient in multiple mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement.
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

Important Considerations

Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
Work in a cold, wet environment.
Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
May be exposed to sunlight and heat.
May be around moving equipment and machinery.
May climb up to and/or into large processing tanks for cleaning or inspection.
