Inspect the appearance of the vehicle, inside and out, and perform a daily pre-trip inspection. Servicing each account in the order specified by the Route Manifest. Parking the truck so as not to block or hinder access to the account's customers in any way. Greeting the customers with a warm and friendly greeting. Delivering all products to the account as specified on the invoice and having it checked by an employee of that account. Clean racks, coolers, vendors and any other equipment or areas where products are located. Organizing the backroom stock and rotating product. Filling shelves, facing product out, and sometimes pricing product. Picking up empty/extra shells. Do not leave any carts/pods/pallets in your account without the approval of a delivery supervisor. Straightening up the backroom stock (A neat backroom is as necessary as a neat and clean beverage section). Collecting or charging for all merchandise which is specified on the sales invoice. Thanking your customers and creating and maintaining goodwill in all accounts. After delivering all stops, the driver must prepare the truck for check-in. When arriving at the plant, have his/her truck checked by a Check-in Supervisor. Filling the vehicle with fuel (checking all fluids) at the end of the day and filling out a post-trip report. Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 30 lbs. continuously and 60 lbs. intermittently. Able to push/pull a cart weighing up to 800 pounds. Drive a tractor trailer, including entering and existing the cab of the truck multiple times per day. Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a frequent basis. Other Delivery Driver Duties As Assigned by Manager: Deliveries: Drive from the warehouse to stores and pick up orders for commercial (business-to-business) customers and deliver them. Demonstrate a customer first mentality. Provide excellent customer service. Excellent communication and customer service skills, both oral and written are a must. Strong customer service focus. Great attention to detail. Function as a team player. Products on deliveries can be heavy, >75lbs. Products being delivered include golf cart batteries (65lbs) and 8D Industrial Batteries (127lbs). Team lifting is advised for the 8D batteries and anything else weighing over 75lbs. Transfers: Transfer products (batteries, light bulbs, device repair components and other miscellaneous products) between stores and warehouse. Ensure transported products arrive safely at their correct destination each day. At least once per week, sometimes multiple times per week, product must be taken off pallets at the warehouse and brought out to the stores. Products being brought out to the stores can weigh as much as 75lbs. Sending out 2,000 to 3,000lbs worth of product each week. Product is sorted onto pallet and loaded onto the van with a forklift and then distributed by hand off the van to the stores throughout the day. Recycling: Batteries: Load used batteries (heavy, lead acid batteries) by hand on a van and then unload by forklift at warehouse. After unloading, batteries will need to be processed for recycling. This involves stacking the batteries correctly on a pallet, wrapping with pallet wrap, weighing them on a scale and then placing the prepared pallet on a rack 20 feet above the floor with a forklift. Picking up used batteries involves lifting batteries up to 75lbs each and heavy boxes full of batteries repeatedly from ground level into a van, crouching down in the van arranging batteries on a pallet, team lifting batteries heavier than 75lbs. Also need to crouch down while running plastic wrap around the perimeter of the used battery pallet. Each of the four stores can have as much as 2,000-3,000lbs of used batteries to be picked up on a weekly to bi-weekly basis depending on how busy they are. Light Bulbs: Pick up pre-packaged boxes of light bulbs for recycling at the stores and from customers and bring back to warehouse. Once at warehouse, bulbs will need to be counted, placed on a pallet, wrapped in pallet wrap and placed on storage racks. Other Delivery Driver Duties: As assigned by Manager. Organizational skills, prior experience as a driver, and a strong work ethic are a must. Delivery Driver Qualifications: High School, diploma/equivalent and 2 years prior experience in customer service/driving/warehouse management. Good listening and verbal communication skills with customer focus. Must possess and use organizational and analytical problem-solving skills. Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks to effectively prioritize, follow up, and meet deadlines with multiple tasks and projects. Familiarity with Norfolk area and surrounding cities. Demonstrate a technical aptitude or technical experience desired. Ability to operate a pallet jack and forklift with possession of a forklift license. Able to lift 65lbs without assistance and team lift up to 160lbs on a regular basis. Monday - Friday 8a-5p availability, with some weekends based on need. Valid Driver's License and clean driving record required. Ability to pass background check for access to military bases and government installations. Cross-Functional Coordination Warehouse Coordination: Communicate directly with warehouse teams to confirm pickup readiness, pallet counts, and required equipment.
