Shasta Regional Medical Center company history timeline

1945

Shasta Regional has a long- standing tradition of being a cutting-edge healthcare provider, from the moment it opened its doors in 1945, until today and will continue to do so into the future.

1963

Owned by Doctor Tom Wyatt, he purchased adjoining property and in 1963, a larger expansion enabled the hospital to be licensed for 132 beds.

1986

In 1986, after a large expansion of the North tower a new 21 bed orthopedic unit brought the bed capacity to 185.

1995

Nine years later, in 1995 the hospital celebrated its 50th year with a $35 million dollar expansion with the construction of a new Emergency Department and Outpatient Surgery Center.

2001

Prime Healthcare Services acquired Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville, California in January, 2001 in order to save it from closure.

2004

In 2004, Prime Healthcare acquired Chino Valley Medical Center from bankruptcy.

2006

In 2006, Prime Healthcare saved Sherman Oaks Hospital from the same fate.

2009

Prime Healthcare was recognized as a Top 10 Health System in 2009.

2011

Thomson Reuters expanded the award from 10 systems to 15 systems in 2011 so that it could have three categories, large, medium, and small and Prime Healthcare was included among the medium systems in 2011.

2015

In fall of 2015, a 20-bed Geropsychiatric unit, Path to Wellness, will open providing cognitive, emotional and psychological healthcare.
