Required Qualifications
Valid driver's license

Role Overview
The Press Operator is a production-focused role responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of Legend Smelting and Recycling's catalytic converter press. This position plays a critical role in material preparation, documentation accuracy, and maintaining a clean, organized production environment.
The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, dependable, and comfortable working in an industrial setting where attention to detail and consistency matter.
Comprehensive, paid training is provided for press operation.
Primary Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently operate the catalytic converter press in accordance with company procedures and training guidelines (approximately 40 hours of training provided)
Perform required press inspections at the beginning of each shift to ensure proper operation and identify potential safety or maintenance issues
Accurately complete batch documentation and daily production paperwork, ensuring traceability and compliance with internal controls
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by performing cleanup between batches and at the end of each shift
Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to facility safety standards
Assist with additional operational tasks or support other departments as needed to meet production and facility goals

Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred, but not required
Demonstrated stable work history and reliability
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and willingness to assist with various duties as needed
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Physical Requirements
Ability to regularly lift up to 70 lbs.
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
Ability to perform frequent physical movements, including bending, squatting, twisting, and turning

Summary The position is responsible for removing burrs, sharp edges, slag, and other imperfections from fabricated metal parts to ensure they meet required specifications and finish standards. This role plays a critical part in producing safe, high-quality components for customers in industries such as industrial equipment, construction, automotive, and custom fabrication. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment. Position is Night Shift M-Th; 6pm-6:30am Night shift premium; additional $3.00 per hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform de-parting operations using grinders, sanders, hand tools, and deburring machines.
Inspect raw and finished parts to identify burrs, rough edges, and surface defects.
Interpret work orders, blueprints, and shop travelers to confirm material, tolerances, and finishing requirements.
Occasionally use measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify part accuracy.
Ensure all edges, holes, and cut features are properly finished according to customer specifications.
Operate machinery such as:
Angle grinders, orbital sanders, dynafiles
Manual or automated deburring tools
Assist with part handling, staging, and packaging to avoid damage post-finishing.
Maintain clean and organized work area; follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Collaborate with laser operators, machinists, welders, and quality inspectors to resolve finishing issues.
Document completed work and report deviations or nonconforming materials
Qualifications
Previous experience in metal fabrication, machine shop, or similar industrial environment preferred.
Bonus ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings.
Proficiency with hand tools and finishing equipment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Strong safety awareness

Work You'll Do: Operate various shears, press brakes, spot welders, and other fabrication equipment as required to create sheetmetal parts.
Work to close tolerances as specified or required by the machine design.
Perform dressing and grinding operations as required for fit and appearance.
Work safely and in an environmentally responsible environment.

Read drawings containing multiple views and sections.
