Aqua-Chem sheet metal installer job description
Schedule: Monday - Thursday - 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The position of Sheet Metal/ Lagging Installer at Aqua-Chem will perform a variety duties involving the installation of metal/lagging and insulation under minimal supervision with little to no assistance. Position requires knowledge of sheet metal/lagging practices and procedures and the willingness to lead and teach others in this trade so the team can be successful.
Essential Duties:
- Consults blueprints, work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct specified structure; develops additional sketches if needed.
- Use hand tools to bend, shape and form metal.
- Selects appropriate material for each job per process sheet.
- Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.
- Measures, cuts according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
- Measure, cut, and install insulation to shells, ductwork, and piping.
- Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, or using steel screws.
- Performs assigned work in lagging department.
- Uses appropriate machinery to complete assigned jobs.
- Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.
- Maintains clean and orderly workspace.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Be able to perform work in a safe and timely manner.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) plus years of Lagging/Sheet Metal experience
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Physical Skill and Effort: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work up to 12 hours standing and walking on cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat, climb ladders and perform work in confined positions.
- Will require working in areas up to 15 feet from the ground.
- Must be able to climb stairs and work in temperature ranges corresponding with the outside ambient temperatures.

The mechanic will maintain, repair, and modify structural components on C130 model aircraft.
Essential Functions:
- The qualified applicant must have the experience and ability to perform the following:
- Experience performing Aircraft C and D-checks
- Experience in aircraft structural repair, fabrication, modification, and installation of parts, items, and assemblies by interpreting technical data using engineering drawings, blue prints, or manufacturers drawings/manuals.
- The Mechanic will plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces for aircraft modification.
- Mechanic must be a qualified aviation sheet metal mechanic with experience in aviation sheet metal, hardware installation such as rivet/blind rivet installation, HI-Loc installation, etc.
- The candidate must have a common knowledge of tooling required for performance of aircraft structural work.
- Additional job duties are required but not limited to: performs corrosion control, maintenance inspections, miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, tow and jack aircraft.
- Strong aircraft structures knowledge and skill is required for this position.
- Work in a team-oriented work environment, under minimal supervision, performing a variety of structural assembly operations in a production department
- Must be able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, etc.
- Must be able to setup and use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as: dial indicators, micrometers, measurement gauges and calipers, etc.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years structural sheet metal experience
- Experience performing Aircraft C & D-checks (preferred)
- Heavy modification/integration/repair sheet metal experience on aircraft
- High school diploma/GED
- A&P license
