SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Lead Teacher is responsible for ensuring the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team. They assist with the planning and implementation of the curriculum.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The Lead Teacher may be expected to:
Lift and carry children and equipment, 30lbs unassisted and 50lbs with assistance.
Capability to sit on the floor and stand up independently to interact with children.
Clean and maintain equipment and the center.
Take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, and staff due to the potential exposure to anyone who may be ill and/or contagious.
Work in a busy and occasionally noisy environment where there may be a number of activities and situations happening at once.
Ability to use arms and legs and moving their whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Ability to learn/use technology.
Ability to pass a hearing test.
Visually observe children from all areas of the classroom and playground from a distance of at least 20 feet.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background check, fingerprinting, and drug test are required prior to hire date. Caring for children can be stressful. The Lead Teacher must ensure that children are supervised at all times, and that children are involved in safe and appropriate activities. There may be a number of situations happening at once, and the Lead Teacher must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Preschool Teacher Assistant is responsible for working cooperatively with the Preschool Lead Teacher in planning and conducting learning experiences and activities and assists in the day-to-day management of an assigned classroom.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Preschool Teacher Assistant is responsible for working cooperatively with the Preschool Lead Teacher in planning and conducting learning experiences and activities and assists in the day-to-day management of an assigned classroom.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
* Organize classroom space into functional areas (interest centers) in collaboration with the teacher.
* Maintain a clean and healthy classroom environment.
* Maintain a safe environment - indoor and outdoor.

Assist to compile an inventory. Assist to request and store adequate and appropriate classroom materials and Supplies
Assist Teacher with visits to the homes of parents or guardians of children assigned to classroom
Assist Teacher to coordinate the activities of volunteers
Understands, respects and maintains confidential information regarding children, families, and program
Assists in the implementation of the assigned curriculum designed to improve the physical abilities, social/emotional development, and mental skills of children enrolled in the program.

Nature and Scope:

* Ensure all Virginia Licensing and Head Start/Early Head Start regulations are followed to ensure child safety and to maintain a high-quality classroom.

* Our teacher assistants work with the Lead Teacher as a team to create a fun and engaging classroom.
We are most interested in applicants who…
* Have 1-3 years of experience working in a classroom
* Have familiarity of Virginia Licensing regulations.
* Have CPR/First Aid training
* Flexibility with work hours and scheduling
* Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Qualifications:
* Early Childhood Education Preschool Certificate or an Associates Degree in any field or higher
* 1-3 years of experience in an early childhood setting is preferred.
* Valid Driver's License
