We are seeking an experienced telecom Construction Manager who will travel to oversee projects across the TAK network in various states (current projects will be in IN, TX, OK but there will be others coming). The Construction Manager will provide management and strategic direction for construction projects and teams across a regional footprint.

The Role
* Manage daily construction activities across multiple projects
* Supervise construction crews and subcontractors to ensure quality, compliance, and schedule adherence
* Travel throughout regional market to various projects as needed (+/-90% annually)
* Conduct site walks, pre-construction meetings, safety audits, and closeout inspections
* Coordinate closely with permitting, engineering, real estate, and logistics teams to keep projects on track
* Track project milestones using company provided tools
* Coordinate material deliveries, equipment staging, and access logistics
* Support the Director of Construction in maintaining project budgets and schedules
* Serve as an on-the-ground escalation point for field issues; collaborate on resolution strategies
* Communicate project status, risks, and needs clearly to leadership and clients
* Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety protocols and applicable California regulations
* Document and verify completion of punch lists, redlines, and closeout packages
Requirements
* 5+ years of total telecommunications construction experience including experience in a supervisory/leadership role
* Knowledge and prior work experience in telecom construction industry - coax splicing, fiber splicing, directional drilling, map reading, etc.
* Knowledge and experience with aerial and underground construction
* Practical knowledge of Network operations and associated inventory for both RF and fiber networks
* Experience in estimating, bidding projects and change-order preparation
* Able to travel throughout regional market to various projects as needed (+/-90% annually)
* Problem-solving and like to troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field

Job Description
Reporting to the Capital Construction Director, the Supervisory Capital Project Manager (SPM) will manage a team of Capital Project Managers (PMs) and an Assistant Capital Project Manager (APM) in the Capital Construction (CapCon) branch, providing advanced levels of project management services for various types of capital outlay construction and renovation projects for the university. The SPM will typically be assigned one of the larger or more complex projects in the capital portfolio and will provide guidance and oversight of projects assigned to the team. The SPM will also ensure issues are properly communicated to Facilities leadership.
Assigned projects span the project inception phase, through design and construction, and conclude after start-up, occupancy and warranty period. This includes the management of contracts, project budgets, schedules, and associated coordination/communication.
Other responsibilities include:
* Represent Virginia Tech during the design/construction process and serve as the owner's primary contact.
* Manage and coordinate the project team (Architects/Engineers, consultants, contractors, stakeholders, etc.).
* Ensure design and construction optimizes university program goals, while conforming to the project's established criteria for scope, cost, schedule and quality.
* Manage assigned projects and coordinate involvement of all participants in the design, value engineering, document review, construction, occupancy, closeout, warranty, and financial management processes.
Required Qualifications
* Advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Building Construction; OR training
and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.
* Significant project management experience with comprehensive understanding of the various phases of design and construction, as well as the construction industry as a whole.
* Working knowledge of complex site/building design with a strong emphasis on construction processes including major site logistics, integrated project delivery methods, project life cycle, life cycle analysis, and complex building components.
* Proven ability to strategically provide recommendations and project management guidance including negotiation, collaboration, utilization of project management technology, and maintenance of records.
* Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent major and minor projects with respect to technical, professional and fiscal issues.
* Ability to work in and develop a team atmosphere and provide superior client service in a diverse environment.
* Ability to interpret complex design/construction documents and effectively administer design/construction/consultant contracts throughout the project.
* Ability to read/interpret construction schedules.
* Basic knowledge of building codes and construction means and methods.
* Proven track record for successfully managing and delivering multiple projects (new construction/renovation). For reference, VT capital projects have recently varied in scale from $5 million to $300 million in total value .
* Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
* Registered/Licensed Architect or Engineer in Virginia (as defined by the Code of
Virginia).
* Design/Build, Design/Bid/Build, and Construction Manager-at-Risk construction experience.
* Knowledge of construction delivery scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, BIM/Revit, BlueBeam, etc.) and Microsoft Office programs.
* Prior supervisory experience with employees and project teams.
* Previous construction experience in a higher education setting

Job Summary
The Director of Long Haul Construction leverages deep telecommunications construction knowledge and experience to lead a team of Managers in the on-time and on-budget completion of telecommunications infrastructure construction projects. The Director of Long Haul Construction's responsibility may extend across a geographic territory or over a specific construction function. The Director of Long Haul Construction must be able to analyze data and metrics to ensure the team is performing at peak productivity.
Responsibilities
The Director of Long Haul Construction must possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the outside and inside plant construction process for fiber optic cable and wireless infrastructure in urban and/or rural environments. The Director of Long Haul Construction must also be able to motivate, mentor train and develop a team of people managers that operate in a hybrid working environment. Proven customer relationship skills, strong organizational skills and fanatical commitment to customer satisfaction are a must for the role. The Director of Long Haul Construction will lead teams performing the following functions:
* Assemble detailed and accurate cost estimates for upcoming construction projects.
* Administrate the project budget ensuring visibility and accountability to on-budget performance throughout the project life cycle.
* Prepare detailed scopes of work and follow company processes for bids and vendor awards.
* Establish project timeline and oversee daily activities of vendor and/or internal resources to deliver on-time performance for our customers.

Qualifications

* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction prints.
