**Job Summary**

POSITION SUMMARY
Lead and mentor field crew while performing installation as well as diagnose and repair conveyor equipment at assigned worksite. Responsible for coordinating and managing all on-site activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
Lead, motivate and mentor field crew.
Oversee, monitor, and orchestrate all day-to-day field activities.
Supervise the field crew and ensure that all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and codes.
Coordinate and provide appropriate resources, equipment, and supplies for the job site.
Install, maintain, diagnose, and repair conveyors when necessary to ensure timeliness of project.
Provide technical support to customers and other technicians.
Manages timecard approval process to ensure reporting of accurate hours and proper cost codes.
Participates with the field operations leadership and the project team to put together a project pre plan; implements, monitors and adjusts as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain familiarity and understanding of the change order process.
Manage and track labor hours associated with change orders.
Maintain Company tools and equipment, along with any rented equipment.
Provide active day-to-day leadership, work direction and support for the field crew members.
Partner with Human Resources to ensure fair and consistent administration of all policies, procedures, and processes.
Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements; implements OSHA guidelines and programs; enforces established safety guidelines and promotes a safe workplace.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
5+ years Millwright experience required with a preference for at least 2 years of conveyor installation, steel fabrication or welding experience
3+ years of supervisory experience
Excellent mechanical aptitude along with welding and fabrication skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed drawings related to conveyor equipment and related machinery.
Basic electrical knowledge.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate)
Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
Work extremely flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, as required.
Valid Driver's License with good driving record.
Ability to travel 90-100% of the week.

Job Description
Reporting to the Capital Construction Director, the Supervisory Capital Project Manager (SPM) will manage a team of Capital Project Managers (PMs) and an Assistant Capital Project Manager (APM) in the Capital Construction (CapCon) branch, providing advanced levels of project management services for various types of capital outlay construction and renovation projects for the university. The SPM will typically be assigned one of the larger or more complex projects in the capital portfolio and will provide guidance and oversight of projects assigned to the team. The SPM will also ensure issues are properly communicated to Facilities leadership.
Assigned projects span the project inception phase, through design and construction, and conclude after start-up, occupancy and warranty period. This includes the management of contracts, project budgets, schedules, and associated coordination/communication.
Other responsibilities include:
* Represent Virginia Tech during the design/construction process and serve as the owner's primary contact.
* Manage and coordinate the project team (Architects/Engineers, consultants, contractors, stakeholders, etc.).
* Ensure design and construction optimizes university program goals, while conforming to the project's established criteria for scope, cost, schedule and quality.
* Manage assigned projects and coordinate involvement of all participants in the design, value engineering, document review, construction, occupancy, closeout, warranty, and financial management processes.
Required Qualifications
* Advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Building Construction; OR training
and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.
* Significant project management experience with comprehensive understanding of the various phases of design and construction, as well as the construction industry as a whole.
* Working knowledge of complex site/building design with a strong emphasis on construction processes including major site logistics, integrated project delivery methods, project life cycle, life cycle analysis, and complex building components.
* Proven ability to strategically provide recommendations and project management guidance including negotiation, collaboration, utilization of project management technology, and maintenance of records.
* Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent major and minor projects with respect to technical, professional and fiscal issues.
* Ability to work in and develop a team atmosphere and provide superior client service in a diverse environment.
* Ability to interpret complex design/construction documents and effectively administer design/construction/consultant contracts throughout the project.
* Ability to read/interpret construction schedules.
* Basic knowledge of building codes and construction means and methods.
* Proven track record for successfully managing and delivering multiple projects (new construction/renovation). For reference, VT capital projects have recently varied in scale from $5 million to $300 million in total value .
* Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
* Registered/Licensed Architect or Engineer in Virginia (as defined by the Code of
Virginia).
* Design/Build, Design/Bid/Build, and ConstructionManager-at-Risk construction experience.
* Knowledge of construction delivery scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, BIM/Revit, BlueBeam, etc.) and Microsoft Office programs.
* Prior supervisory experience with employees and project teams.
* Previous construction experience in a higher education setting
* Previous experience working with Commonwealth of Virginia funded projects, a university building official, or similar offices.
