Summary Mercy Chefs is seeking a Lead Associate, Public Partnerships to expand and manage our government funding efforts. This role involves internal coordination, complex partnership management, and maintaining relationships with Federal and State government officials. The lead associate will actively track and pursue funding opportunities, manage key relationships, and provide direct support to leadership. The position will handle support documentation, opportunity tracking, and scheduling and follow up communication coordination. The Lead Associate reports to the Director of Strategic Initiatives. What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties) Public Partnership and Government Relations Maintain and grow relationships with federal state officials Support funding pursuits by monitoring opportunities, preparing briefing materials, and coordinating submissions Track public funding opportunities and ensure timely follow-up with relevant offices Coordinate state/federal lobbying reporting as needed Spend time on Capitol Hill, attending and assisting in meetings with congressional offices and key stakeholders Internal Coordination Support planning for VIP/Executive leadership visits Coordinating with field teams and partners to ensure successful meetings Coordinate internal meeting schedules and manage key note creation Work closely with external consultants to align strategy and execution Knowledge Management and Documentation Maintain records of government contacts, meetings, and outcomes in Salesforce Develop and maintain templates for briefing documents, presentations, and official correspondence Track deadlines and consolidate team input for reports and submissions Track organization-wide deadlines and gather team input for reporting requests Management Support Assist department senior management with managing calendars, arranging travel and supporting coordination and content development for external meetings. Assist with recruiting and onboarding new team members, and supervise department interns. Provides an efficient and safe working environment for participants, employees, and visitors at the short-term family housing site. This includes ensuring spills are attended to and that universal precautions are utilized. Reviews, explains, and provides each family with a copy of the program rules during intake and reviews the rights and responsibilities with the residents. Process intakes according to the program's rules, procedures, etc. Ensures a daily log is maintained to record all activities and information. Requirements Education/Experience: Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent. 2 years of experience working in a residential or shelter setting. Must have supervisory experience. Experience working with families and/or youth and child development and welfare knowledge is preferred. Skills and Competencies: General knowledge of working in a homeless shelter or residential facility preferred. Provides excellent customer service and demonstrates reliability. Demonstrate empathy when responding to participants' needs and requests. Use practices including trauma-informed care, verbal judo, and other de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques. Excellent time management, detail-oriented, organized, capable of maintaining confidentiality, and able to work independently with minimal supervision Experience with adult rehabilitation, mental health, addiction, and co-occurring disorders Experience working with families, youth, and school systems in culturally diverse environments with empathy and integrity. Must possess and be able to demonstrate strong intra- and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively express ideas, needs, and observations both verbally and in writing. This includes the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with clients, colleagues, and supervisors, as well as to document interactions and incidents accurately, professionally, and in a timely manner. Must be able to demonstrate active listening, emotional awareness, and the ability to adapt their communication style to different individuals and situations. Working conditions: The office is located in an apartment building and exposed to conditions that arise in homes, including occasionally biohazards (e.g., blood, tissue, human waste) and conflict. Physical and Environmental Requirements: The position will alternate between office/desk settings and roving the occupied STFH floors and grounds of The Brooks. The position will view the security camera and footage. The candidate must be able to lift 25 lbs. The candidate will be walking 70% of the time, bending at the knees, and standing for extended periods of time. Staff will interact with participants who have a history of experiencing homelessness.
