Mission The mission of the Project Engineer is to support the project team to facilitate successful project outcomes by coordinating with the client, the field, vendors and subcontractors to ensure projects are built on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities Own plan and specification reviews, employ expertise to clear roadblocks for the most efficient field installation. Ensure plans and specs, submittals, RFI's and FCD's are updated in Procore, and, if plans are also printed, ensure the correct information is available in the Field. Project schedule coordination and update, constantly evaluating to ensure we are on schedule and reporting potential challenges to the project team. Price and scope change requests, ensuring that such are coordinated with the field, vendors, and the client in a timely manner. Verify the accuracy of progress drawings by reviewing them, walking the job to ensure that the drawings are accurate, and ensuring the most recent version is always available in Procore, working through Foreman and Superintendent to resolve any discrepancies. Review SIP's and Earned Hours/TRACK for accuracy and trends, reporting wins and challenges to the project team. Actively participate in developing a successful Project Plan. Maintain risk matrix, ensure that it is updated and risks are mitigated by coordinating with project team members. Serve as A-C support to subcontractors; answering submittals, questions and issues and escalating to Project Management when there is a problem. Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the electrical discipline such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, lightning protection, and fire detection systems. Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of electrical commodities. Establish an electrical design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer, including agreement on electrical engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management. Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for electrical discipline. Coordinate with the Electrical Superintendent for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment including panels, motors, and switchgear. Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct electrical materials. Coordinate and monitor the interfaces for electrical data exchange to support the construction automation plan and the project controls program requirements at the jobsite. Support the electrical construction quality program. Coordinate with Electrical Superintendent to plan/support construction schedules. Plan and recommend electrical procedures to be implemented by Electrical Superintendent to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications. Work with project engineering, start-up engineering and operating personnel to coordinate electrical construction activities. Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure electrical materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications and interpret vendor design documents and installation manuals. Implement controls over variables affecting electrical installation progress such as raceway, cable, terminations, and equipment. Also ensure engineering and procurement provide timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment and that other corporate programs are fully utilized. Plan and prepare electrical work packages. Perform other duties as required by Electrical Superintendent. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred Qualifications: Heavy Civil construction and field experience. Ability to understand P&ID's, Control Schematics, Electrical single-line drawings, and system (I&C, Fire Alarm, HVAC Control, Security) drawings. Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces. Experience in construction and technical inspection of electrical design in areas such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, and cable pulling activities. Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program. Must be computer-literate in word processing, CAD, spreadsheets, and database applications. Must be familiar with current industry quality standards. Beginner to advanced experience in field engineering activities. Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E Codes. Experience using Accubid is helpful doing takeoffs, estimating for new projects and helping with bid process.
